Equal footing - so theyre losing COLA then.

No problems there. We won't led have plenty of room in our cap after doing nothing last year... Also with a couple more retiring this year...

I think that Watts would easily find a new home, however not many players have left Melbourne and been better players at other clubs, which would be a concern. There must be a real culture there of laziness and they are a long way off being anywhere near fit enough as a club. Think Sylvia, Blease, Frawley, Scully, Rivers, Bruce etc. Stef Martin and Scott Thompson the 2 exceptions.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Good point MC, although would have thought RIvers and Bruce were at least serviceable and Thompson left before they became a basket case?

I think Watts leaving Melbourne is a good idea for him or else he will end up like Tambling - maligned at his 1st club, finally traded for a fresh start but probably too old to really have a chance to make an impact at the new club.

Tambling just turned 25 when he was traded to Crows...should have been in the prime of his career. He was just shit.

Jarrad Grant hasnt been offered a new deal yet at the kennel. Will become an unrestricted free agent and so could do what he wants.
I'm surprised he has lasted this long and with the uprising of young talent there is no room for him. Question is will anyone want him?

Made his way into the side after falling out of favour with McCartney last year and played a different role this season, showed more off a wing/hf but not enough to warrant staying when we have so much youth that have far more potential. Was originally pick 5 in 2006 iirc but be lucky to get a second rounder for him now...

My brother told me that the Power players that played Sunday had their meetings with the coaching staff/list management yesterday and Mason Shaw, Sam Russell will be getting delisted along with Johann Wagner. Kane Mitchell and John Butcher are still 50/50

Have heard a couple of clubs are looking at Shaw, would Port be better trading for him than delisting him?
Didnt Wagner have a 2 year contract?

Well Shaw being delisted is the word at Alberton. Butcher getting delisted depends on Schulz leaving and/or Dixon coming to the club.

We thought that Wagner's contract was two years but turns out it's only one. Wagner didn't bother going to his meeting because he knows he's gone lol.

Interesting that the ads for the next season of the recruit are on at the moment and they have changed it to not on an afl list, rather than afl or SANFL like it was in the first season

Not a great post. Scott Thompson left after Melbourne had a finals season. Bruce left at 31 (and still did ok in a strong side). Sylvia and Rivers were past their best and the latter still enjoyed good form in a good side. Scully has struggling with injuries the last couple of years, the first two years he did ok in a rubbish side as a kid. Frawley is getting headlines at the moment, but so did Brian Lake. Let's see how he goes once he's had a couple of years to settle into a different system and different role. Blease retired in his first year post Melbourne due to a head injury. Don't reckon there's anyone you've named that is an example of what you're trying to argue.

Sylvia was playing great football and at 27 should've been at his peak, he should've slotted in nicely at Freo and appreciated the talent around him.

I would think Shaw, Russell and Mitchell from the main list will go, perhaps Harvey and Byrne-Jones too.

I'd think Wagner and Logan will not be rookie listed.

If Schulz stays I think Butcher will go and Redden be rookie listed. If Schulz leaves I think Redden will go and Butcher be rookie listed.

That means we'd have 3-4 spots on the main list and 2-3 on the rookie list.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

I've seen him a fair bit but I don't know where he fits in in the Adelaide line up. He's a half back flanker type. Just reading an article he's 187cm tall, so not key position but can run and carry the footy.
