The angry looking chap who leaned over and threatened to punch the hawthorn player who ran into the fence is also worth a mention.
Embarrassing for Australia not just WA.

They have a new stadium which is crammed every single week with a partisan, sometimes feral, crowd that is almost confronting to play in front of (or support an opposing team in).
The facility itself is perfect for building up a fear factor for opposing teams - supporters are close to the action and the ground is popular enough to be full every week.
And the two local clubs trade off on that well.
Compare that to the Dogs, Saints or Kangas playing to a half-full Docklands, where the crowd is often made up of as many away supporters as home, or to Melbourne's home games in Darwin and I know who has the biggest home-ground advantage in that respect.

It's funny, I brought this issue up on another thread and the opinion was almost unanimous that if you're good enough you can win anywhere. Even if the ground is filled to capacity and cheering for the home team.
I guess there really is such a thing at a home ground advantage after all, it just depends on what thread people are on when they're talking about it.

Home ground advantage to the non-Victorian sides is one thing, travelling interstate only 4 or 5 times a year is better.

Instead of it being tiresome and repetitive, it's a chance to "bond" and "bring the group closer together".
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

I think that's true for the really good sides - if you're an average side, or one on par with Adelaide or Port, for example, I think it can have a bearing.

HGA and the amount of times a club travels is two different things. I'm talking about the HGA when teams do play away.

Having half your games with over 80% of the crowd barracking for you trumps everything

Yep, If you want to talk about HGA, talk about the times when you do play "away" but still have the vast majority of supporters.

Of course the SA and WA teams have a good home ground advantage, but it is no better than a packed MCG full of pies or hawks fans

Unless your other half of games involves over 80% of the crowd barracking against you?

I reckon Collingwood last year would have had 8 genuine home games where there crowd clearly would have outnumbered the opposition support by any significant amount

I even have included Western Bulldogs at Etihad

Ha, ha, ha!
Mate, only in SA is Port Adelaide loathed. I've got a whole continent to deal with.

PS: I'm not there on every occasion, defending every insult, unlike Captain Port Adelaide.... ;)

Thought you'd like that. Continent? HA! They've found water on Mars and a big "**** Collingwood" bill board.

*Edit*

Defending on every occasion? Mate, the attacks we've been under for the last 3 years means even Captain Port Adelaide can't make it to every battle line.

Finals are a different matter was the general consensus on what you brought up on that other thread. Especially a GF as both sides get the same amount of tickets to sell to it.
