Yeha well we beat Eastern park.

Good game of footy for the first 3 quarters.

But after we got on top by 3/4 time, they lost the plot a bit. Umpires had no control over the game. Nothing big happened at first, just a few spot fires.

Have no idea why, but near the end of the game looked over to see two Eastern park players jumping the fence to confront a group of people watching the game on the far side of SMOSH near the scoreboard.

Was standing on the mark of a free kick at the time and asked the umpire why he didn't do something. Said 'what can i do? He's not on the field, it's not my problem.'

Is that the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard?

Yeah but anyways a couple of eastern aprk players took control and just calmed thigns down - their ruckman and forwrd ('rhino'?) - good blokes and well done to them. But yeah poor form from
umpire. I appreciate how hard it is to get new umpires and citicism doesn't help, but this was just blatant not doing his job.

no. 14 is their best player IMO. Carved us up first time around, and was good in the first half til we shut him down. Fair mouth on him too.

From Eastern park website which i just found.

The As and Bs ventured down to West Lakes this weekend to take on SMOSH who were top of the ladder in both grades. The As were in the game up until half way into the third, but it wasn't to be. Up against a good side and some ordinary spectators it was a reasonable effort. The margin blowing out to 8 goals in the end. The Bs to put it simply were smashed by a good young side. Our lads were behind the eight ball with injury and illness and were never in the race. The margin a hefty 19 and a bit goals. The Cs were at home and put on a fairly good show in a game that was closer than a lot this year, but still not a win. The final margin was around 40 points.

I would have thought that was the pot calling the kettle black.

I dont know where half this info comes from but Matty Paul has not been too bad this year and will be playing A Grade in 2008.

As for the SMOSH game our players only jumped the fence as one was racially abused. SMOSH's coach was informed and has said he is sorting it out.
The first player involved is normally good tempered, so for him to crack as he did we knew something bad had happened.
I know exactly what was said to him and I would have done the exact same thing.
SMOSH's supporters were pretty feral all day I don't deem it appropriate for one of our team officials to go to the canteen only to be told f*** off back to Elizabeth we don't want you here.

And we get called feral.... haha

i was looking at last weeks sports beats and was looking over where they thought teams would finish. With 4 games to go you would call it the business end.

There Prediction
SMOSH
ATHELSTONE
WALKERVILLE
SALISBURY WEST
OLD IGGIES

EASTERN PARK
ST PETERS
FLINDERS PARK
CBOC
PRINCE ALFRED

What do other people think of this as i believe we will not get relegated and i believe eastern park would have to play finals over salisbury west or old iggies.

What is people general thoughts and who do people see as the best 5 teams on there day

The Eastern Park and SMOSH game was a good game to watch.
A couple of scuffles broke out when the game was out of EPFC's hands and that is something we want to take out of our game.......a bit of mental tuffness.
Then some idiot spectator called one of the EPFC players a black c!*# which was very disappointing. You could not blame the EPFC guy for doing what he did, racist taunting in any sport is a disgrace. And yes we have our own idiot spectators which have been spoken to.
Six A Grade players pulled out of Saturday's game (flu) which could have been the difference but to be honest, it is the first time I have seen SMOSH play this year and even though top of the table they either had an ordinary day, missing players, or we just match up well against them, but you have to give SMOSH credit being top of Div3, that's a good effort.
Matty Paul is a good player but he hasn't been the dominant player that he usually is, I think it might have to do with him shift working.......he only gets to touch the ball on Saturday's but still performs.

Thankyou Burglar for backing up what I said earlier. You can't expect players to sit back and cop things like that being said.
See you at this Saturdays game... :)

ok fair enough, no one seemed sure what was said at training tonight.

But strangely the guy that got ppunched 6 time in the face by a player who should have been on the field is aboriginal. Work that one out.

But yeah, my main gripe was that the umpire did nothign about players jumping the fence to start brawls, whether provoked or not, an umpire can't just ignore that. it's ridiculous.

Thats fair enough too... it was only one player fighting though. The other guy went over to stop the fight. We explained all this to the umpie after the game.
It was all very stupid really in the end. I just don't understand why an aboriginal would say that to another? Strange.

We have been talking about this for a few weeks and we think 5th spot will come down to EPFC vs S/West at Dwight Reserve in a few weeks time. Keep your eyes out for that game.

the umpires this year, all looking great with their uniforms (i,m sure they wear them to bed on friday nights) are very ordinary. The scuffle that broke out in front of me could have got nasty. What did the umpire do............walked away and was worried about the game instead, you could see it in his eyes that he didnt know how to handle it but in saying that we need them.
And yeh Turbo, the umpire should have done something, all this should not be happening in this grade............grade 5 down maybe but not Div3.
It is wierd but i guess racism does not discriminate

good luck for next week Turbo

oh yeh, EPFC to replace Salisbury West....i think.

Turbo, with all due respect, the onyl thing the umpire could have done is paid a free kick against the player jumping the fence and attacing spectators. but even then he would have to wait until he actually does something to the spectator. you cant ping a guy for jumping a fence. Racism is a very low form of insult but it is surely something the clubs and the league have to deal with nto the umpire, particulalry if he hasn't heard exactly what was said

Can i ask you a question lovetotalkfooty.
What happen to you guys on saturday against Athelstone.
I know for a fact athelstone had 5 Agrade players out from the week before against walkerville & still waiting the return of malcolm grossman & you still was given a flogging.
I really thought PAOC would have put up a better performance then that since you had won 3 in a row.

I sure hope E/Park knock S/West out of the 5 -

Athelstone play S/west this week & last time they played them there was some dirty players willing to throw a punch behind play & under the packs.
Well Goodluck to them - Athelstone should have their full strength side includ their hard nuts back this week. Will be a interesting game.
Trust me - the last 4 weeks the raggies have been a different outfit this year... Very disciplined.
besides the incident that happen last week when a raggies player got reported for striking a Paoc player. he knows he did wrong & if his not suspended he will definitely come back through the B grade.

I hope S/west get belted this week - & i mean on the scoreboard.

we just didn't seem to have the flow that we have had in the last 3 weeks. A few of the boys may have got a head of themselves and thought that it was going to come. We have 4 very hard weeks ahead but if we can win 2 games we will be safe. Can't do anything about last week just win 2 more games. CBOC and St peters next 2 weeks are massive for this club. We did it last year and we will do it again.

Hey demon girl and Burgular do us a favour and knock of flinders park for us. Hey who is that rhino for you, had him come in to work and was saying that they thought eastern park could match it with any side if heads were right. I told him to take 2 panadol and lie down as he is sick.
