Glenelg has added former North Adelaide utility Rhys O’Keeffe as it seeks to add bigger bodies to its developing midfield unit.
Entering his second season at the helm, Tigers coach Matt Lokan identified a need to bolster the physical strength of his on-ball brigade, with solidly built Dylan Reinbrecht (Norwood) and Ben Sawford (Port) also joining in the off-season.
Speaking on SANFL Radio, Lokan said O’Keeffe – who measures in at a sizeable 188cm and 88kg – had been quick to impress on the track since arriving at Brighton Road.
The return of favourite sons Ruory Kirkby and James Sellar will add vital experience to the bigman department, with Sellar likely to spend time in the ruck with the departure of Josh Miller (Norwood), Lachlan Button (study) and Tom Carter (work).
Lokan revealed the flexible Warrick McGinty would likely start at the centre bounce, with the Bays mentor sensing SANFL ruckmen will need to be more mobile due to the 50-cap on rotations being introduced in 2016.
The Tigers will hold an internal trial the week before kicking off their trial match campaign against Sturt at Football Park on Saturday February 27.
