Maxwell has plenty of critics, but the guy still averages over 40. Did a "top 10" of the guys I felt were in and around the mark for a call up as batsmen. Only Chris Lynn had a better first class average and I definitely feel like Maxwell's best is well in front of him. Seems to be scratching away today and batting a bit more normally. If he just plays the ball on its merits instead of trying to read the bowler I can see him being well and truly test class. Definitely would prefer him in whites to S. Marsh.

Sometimes i think when Maxwell gets to International level he feels the pressure of having to be 'the big show' and almost becomes a parody of himself who tries to be the batter people want him to be.

I think he has lots of talent and at shield level he does tend to put away all the 'party' shots and just concentrates on batting.

Agreed. The next Dave Warner. Has the talent, hasn't proven he can adapt his game just yet, but I think he will eventually

Hasn't got half the ability of Warner. Will be a decent for Australia in the short forms but can't see him cracking a test game. He isn't good enough to hold down a spot for his batting alone and his bowling isn't good enough to be an all rounder.

Maxwell averages 40 hiding himself in the middle order at Shield level, would average under 10 if he batted in the top 3. Shaun Marsh has at least proven himself as a top order batter at Shield level

That boats probably passed him, he is 27 and is probably at least a year away or a fair few injuries from even getting a crack in the test side.

Lead over 370, probably bat to the last break which will give us 420-450 in 4 sessions. Unfortunately 2 of those sessions are night sessions[emoji20]

I think Cooper is just lacking ability. I'm not upset with him, he seems like a middle order bat trying to open because there are few options and he lost out to Lehmann, Head and Ross early on.

But Cosgrove I'm peeved at. He was the reason we couldn't guarantee Klinger a spot. He was the reason we lost Botha. If he was in bad form and failing I could probably understand but every time he gets a start he gets out. When he retires he's going to look back and feel like a uni student who flunked first year because they spent the year in the Unibar. Except he'll have wasted a whole career and all that talent, all those opportunities to just be a fat, lazy, underachieving slob who instead of playing for his country settled for "average to poor" in the first class arena.

Klinger
Carey (wk)
Ferguson
Head
Ross
Lehmann
Botha
Zampa
Mennie
Sayers
Worrall

In another universe, this side walked out for SA this round.
