It's sadly been confirmed the most liked bloke in AFL footy has indeed done his ACL. :

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The Western Bulldogs’ early prognosis has been confirmed, with scans to skipper Bob Murphy’s left knee revealing a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.

Murphy went in for scans on Monday, with the results confirming what had been suspected on Sunday evening after the Dogs' three-point loss to Hawthorn.

“Bob’s scans have just come in and they do confirm that he has ruptured his ACL and he has some medial ligament damage as well," Football Manager Graham Lowe told westernbulldogs.com.au.

“We’re going to give Bob as much time as he needs to consider his position, and [his] plans for moving forward.

“The Club will support him in any way we can to make sure we support him in making the right decision for him and his family.”

Unless he is going to play another 3 years (which I hope he does) go LARS... if it gets him 1 or 2 more years then it'll do the job...

Do you reckon he will play on? Will be 34 next year if he does. As others have said I guess LARS is an option, but I dunno. I guess the lure of a potential crack at a flag would be pretty significant.

Would have a pretty big media career ahead of him given he can actually string a sentence together

AA mentioned that LARS is not an option as there is damage to another tendon(?)

Definitely, he's really good on AFL 360. Doesn't talk in clichés and speaks his mind in the right manner. I enjoy listening to him talk about the game.

There are 34 year olds that have done the crash bang midfield roles or forwards and then there are the 34 year old hard running outside players. Most crash bang mids and key forwards don't last till 34 but outside mids/running defenders like him could. I really hope he plays on. He's been involved in a predominantly ordinary club (success wise) for ages and now the club is looking like tasting some success this happens. Horrible luck. I feel sorry for the bloke. Best of luck to him!

From the Bulldogs site -

The Western Bulldogs Football Club confirms that it has dealt with an incident in the last several weeks involving two of its players; Tom Boyd and Zaine Cordy.

The incident involved an altercation between Tom and Zaine, in which both players were affected by alcohol.

The Club is strongly against any form of violent behaviour and is extremely disappointed in the actions of both players, particularly by the actions of Tom.

The Club has responded by invoking a range of sanctions and other measures:

- It has required Tom and Zaine to apologise and explain their conduct to their teammates and colleagues
- It has required Tom to undergo appropriate counselling
- It has suspended Tom and Zaine from AFL selection until the Club deems it appropriate for both to return
- It has imposed the maximum available fine of $5000 in respect of the relevant unacceptable aspects of Tom’s behaviour
Tom and Zaine have accepted these sanctions, and they have all been implemented.

Additionally, Tom has volunteered a significant personal contribution of time and money to a not for profit organisation focused on the prevention of social violence.

Tom and Zaine have committed to the Club that there will be no repetition of such behaviour and that they will atone to their teammates and the Club.

The Club accepts the sincerity of their remorse and commitment. We will continue to fully support both players.

The Club will have no further comment to make on the matter.

Tom Boyd is actually latin for 'Buyers remorse'. - Titus

So we'll obviously need to set up a go fund me campaign to help Tom Boyd cover his $5000 fine. - Titus

Bulldogs were smart to try and keep this quiet. Stuff like this never leaks. - Titus

Reports are Cordy gave Boyd some lip about getting money for nothing....Boyd gave him one.

They are also reportedly best mates and remain that way, just a little hiccup wrapped up with some home truths. :D
