The likes of Jake King can only do so much. Ben Cousins has to help himself at some point.

Right now and I imagine for some time now, Ben isn't even close to being in a position to help himself.

He hasn't bottomed out yet, but he will when he runs out of cash. I'm assuming his manager or family invested his money wisely which surely wouldn't last much longer. I doubt he is employed, so when he has no income is when he'll bottom out and get help. Hopefully he gets through this but geez its a sad story and a lesson for ALL parents, friends and coaches.

He would have been offered access to the best rehab facilities possible, which the majority of the users wanting to fix their addiction could only dream about and he has failed to take advantage of that. It's fair to say he ain't going to get better. That's what this shit does to people. It ruins not only them, but the the family and anyone else close to them. You know it's bad when nearly every person knows of someone who has been affected by this shit of a drug
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep
Have you ever seen a man eat his own head?
No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

I thought that when the pictures came out of him looking healthy at Richmond FC and then when he was welcomed back at the Eags in a support role for Mainys son who trained there for a week he might have turned the corner. I also read that people had seen him out in public and he was doing really well although he said he had his good and bad days. They saw him out with his kids and he looked happy

I love the Eags and Cuzy and Matera are my fav all time eagles so im shattered to see him struggling again.

I hope for his sake he can get some help. Really don't want to see Cuzy end up like Mainy and sadly overdose. Surely they can get him into rehab although he needs to want to do it

Only the courts can make you go to rehab. That may be his only option?
Like you Hollywood, I hope this doesn't end badly!

Rehabilitation doesn't have a 100% success rate, nor does the cost of the facility ensure a positive outcome, such is the weakness of the human mind and the lure of this insidious drug.

When you think about the mindset any player must have, the strength of mind, to be as he was at one point, as good as any in the game at the time would mean he'd have exceptional will power. Diet, training, commitment. All the things you would think would help him out of this hole.

Exactly what I was thinking about discipline etc.
Its still there but that discipline is now aimed at getting successfully fried for days/weeks on end.
He's not a young man anymore.

To quote Ben Cousins' stomach "Such is life".
"The factory of the future will have only two employees, a man and a dog. The man will be there to feed the dog. The dog will be there to keep the man from touching the equipment" – Warren Bennis

Did anyone see him on TV being released from the hospital?
He is still a smug, arrogant ar$ehole who cares about nobody except himself.

I feel for his family and what he has put them through.

He had discipline before he fried his brain on meth. If u think discipline is going to get him off it, you're dreaming. This shit turns people into zombies. What he was is not applicable now. He's rooted.

Did anyone read Karl Langdons article?

He has pretty much given up any hope of Ben recovering in any form from this.
He also mentioned Ben's ex who is the mother of his 2 kids in the article and said she was a meth user who had done time in jail and was addicted also.
What hope do those 2 kids have with 2 meth users as Parents!!

By chance I caught Langdon on the radio the other night on AA .. He sounded genuine in his sadness for Cousins, and when Rowe said he feared for Cousins' children, Langdon mentioned that their mother is no better off than BC. Terribly sad. One thing to f*** yourself up, another for it to potentially have consequences for your children.

I saw a tweet or an article by Grant Thomas saying that the AFL should have done more to help Ben, which is ridiculous... Ben needs to want to help himself and if doesn't than the family (who have been put through hell because of him) need to put him in a facility which won't allow him to leave for a long period of time...

Another sad aspect the Ben Cousins saga is that this bloke is considered a god still by a lot of people..
The fact that I have seen people who openly bag goode people but on the same hand defend Ben to the end.

I think there's some schools of thought out there, that the AFL has it's drug policy wrong in the area of not informing the clubs when a player has failed a drug test. Obviously thats not going to cast a fool-proof net, because a player might not test positive. But if they do, and the club is made aware of it, the club can then work with the player on it and hopefully prevent it becoming a full blown threat to the players life (and those around him).

Obviously there's no guarantee this would have saved Ben Cousins from the path he's taken, but even if there's a small chance of "maybe", then personally I think it's something worth being in place.
