Talk on the national game

Remember back before all this points system there was quite often a charge laid for charging. Now if my memory is right it didnt matter whether it was high contact or not, it was the act of charging with intent to hurt that was judged. ie attacking an unsuspecting player with no eyes for the ball and late etc etc.
When and why did it change to only penalize if the outcome was undesirable not the action or intent?

Dutch I'll ask a serious question, Which one had more potential to corse more harm Hawkin's or Ziebell?

The point I'm making is if Hawkin's gets 1 Ziebell at least has to get one. Not to mention that absolute dud Firrito, At least Ziebell can play. Firrito should get 4 weeks for trying to impersonate a footballer.

Note* To me Hawkin's and Ziebell were both play on.

Zaharakis offered 2 down to 1 for his gut punch the other night. Where is the consistency? Blokes have been getting $1000-$1500 all year for them....

Jamar gets one match for slugging McGovern in the face?

Your full of shit Jim. Jamer deserves his and Zaharakis was his second cheap one behind play.

He should enjoy his week off with the rest of your suspended boys.

Both penalties on the money. Zaharakis hit him as hard as he could, no way can you let that just be a fine. Reckon the others should have gotten more, but that was the worst one of the year by far. Jamar's wasn't as hard and wasn't meant to slip that high, but he meant to hit him and got him high, so has to get a week.

Wasn't referring to just us. Everyone knows that certain clubs get different penalties.
Jamar deserved a week and now Zaka gets a week everyone that gut punches must also get a week

To me, striking is striking. Doesn't matter where you strike.
Zaharakis is now the template. Gut punch = one week.
Stamp out the cheap shots and jumper punches it frustrates the crap out of me.

I don't even think it's tough to go and hit someone. If anything it's weak and pathetic. If you want to hit someone then work for it and either tackle the bloke or get to the contest on time. Like the old "make them earn it" mantra. Sure, make them earn it by getting to position to spoil, not just a weak punch after the mark because you were too slow and/or lazy to get there in time.

Its not about being tough its more frustration in getting beaten.
Ebert and cotchin was a classic example.
Pay more frees for scragging from taggers at clearances will help stamp it out.

Zaharakis hit him pretty hard in the guts, it was behind play and typically like Essendon was weak as piss. Pretty much what Grahaml is talking about. He deserves his weak for being a weak dog.

The MRP shouldn't suspend players, they should make them play for Essendon in lieu of matches.

Casboult gets one match for his "tummy tap" on Hartigan....and Hartigan turned into a sack of potatoes when he went down.
