They say the onus is on me to inform them of my car sale, which is fair enough. However, is it fair that they just keep 2 months worth of premiums due to an honest oversight.
I can't believe that a company can get away with this - effecively charging for something I did not receive.
F***ing disgrace. I won't be using these pricks again.
Rant over.

Done that already.
2 people specifically confirmed that AAMI will not refund overpaid insurance premiums as the onus is on the customer to notify them upon sale of the car.
I thought that was all I had to do too.

They also claimed that in a situation where my car was hit and pushed into a post there were two impacts and therefore two excesses to pay, but when I mentioned the ACCC they went and checked with the boss and backed down - I don't know whether it is policy or just the girl on the phone was a twit, but they are not the only insurer to trot that one out.

What a croc... 2 impacts - 1 event, therefore 1 excess...

When I was 18 I had an accident and the cnuts decided that it was an economic write off. they offered me about 3k below market value and expected me to take it. spoke to the old boy and he said no as it was in his name. when back to the bloke and said you either fix it or find me a better price. he found me a better price about $200 below so we took it and ran. we now changed companies to one that offers agreed values

Hmm.. I use them because it is a corporate deal and we get good rates and quotes were easily obtained by phone. Possibly the agency has leverage, because they deliver multiple clients. They are cooperative about repairs. You have the option to leave the car with them and they deliver it back fixed, or if like me you are less trusting you get your own quotes and push the one you want approved. I'm not so sure I'd deal with them on a solo basis. For me, RAA were the best deal in SA and Allianz in Victoria, otherwise. RACV are shocking.
