Yes, they certainly do.

The testers arrive unannounced on match day and randomly select two players, who are kept under strict observation after the game until the test is completed.

I would guess each team is tested 2 or 3 times a year.

I remember watching Channel Ten news when they rocked up at one player's flat and knocked on his door.

Said player answered so it wasn't much of a mystery...

I gotta ask - how do they perform the "random" selection? Names out of a hat? First two through the door? One potato two potato?

I seem to recall a hoo-hah when the player referred to by bayman knocked back the test, that the choice of player was hardly random...

Pseudo, I think it's 'one potato, two potato' :D

They do it by random selection with the Club's team manager present.

They randomly test each club's designated clean player I assume.

I don't see SANFL from Victoria, but I'll be over there again in September and may get to a game time permitting.

Watching the AFL, the combination of fast bulking up, fast recovery, and thinning hair on guys in their 20s, suggests anabolic steroids are widely used to me, even if it isn't during the playing season. I note Nick Riewoldt objected to the idea of any off-season testing when it was raised, and he's a lot stronger than he used to be.

2 numbers are drawn from a box/bag. The numbers are 1 to 21. then they are the positions from the team sheet and those players are then chosen for testing.

For example if number 1 drawn out it is the first player on the team sheet which in our case would be Matt Cooper even though he wears number 2 jumper.

Reminds me of everytime I go through security and a fresh faced person in a uniform stops people and says "Hi, you've been randomly selected for an explosives test". Nothing random about it - it's just pick and choose at will. So why say to someone they have been "randomly chosen"??? :?
