I'll pay that one, I realized just as I posted it.
It was a major attraction knowing she wasn't into cricket, I needed that.

2 of them came out 4 weeks ago and signed up with Central United only to be denied a clearance due to money owed to EP.
Hopefully for Smithfield they've now paid up the money.
looks like there taking the soft option of an easy premiership in Grade 3 instead of playing Grade 1 at the Units.

Would've been good inclusions for Units, would think that would've increased the Units finals chances this year significantly.
Did Ray Ray Smith sign up at Units though?

EP has a new president and his number 1 agenda item is to have cricket back there next season, absolutely no doubt 2 of them will go straight back to EP as that's already been talked about

Who is the new president?
Once players leave and begin to enjoy a new culture, it's often very hard to coax them back, Smithfield does provide a very good atmosphere to play cricket at, sitting under the pergola waiting to bat and then sinking a couple under there post match are some of my fondest cricket memories, they know how to enjoy a premiership too.
I know Eastern Park have a great bond amongst their playing group but they've severely lacked direction in the past which probably stems from the sporting body not wanting to give the cricket the support it needs to be successful at Grade 1 level, on paper they've been good enough.

New president is Gilly, played lots and lots of lower grade cricket at EP and was a Saturday regular on the pepper tree. From my understanding it's the first time in over 10 years it hasn't been Billy Wells, Damo Griffiths or Lindsay Lawrence who all in their own rights did very good jobs with the club
No doubt Smithfield provides a great atmosphere with cricket but I know personally there is already talk of a mass return to Eastern Park and the potential for a club cricket legend who is extremely well respected by the young lads returning as coach next year (and no it's not me lol)

Yeah, I now Gilly very well, initially a Smithfield lad.
