Sorry - my mistake. I thought he'd been a regular.
And of course, I should've realised he wasn't as he played against Centrals on Saturday!
Sorry.

Suspending players for turning up 20 MINUTES LATE?

Can't these guys have lives? 11:20pm, yeah, totally out of control Craigy!

Yeah but as Mel Mansell has proven in the last couple of years, you come out and make a big stink over your journos supposedly being treated badly but you go all quiet when one of your own makes a mistake 10 times worse.

Reidy just on 5AA said Vince and Pfieffer volunteered the info to Craigy rather than be sprung some other way

Once Hudson knew those had 2 admitted - he did the same

The suspension was either imposed by or had the full support of the players' leadership group. Sounds like it was a pre-known penalty that all knew about altho that wasn't 100% clear form the interview.

My view - if a rule is set down and everyone is aware of it - you have to enforce it otherwise why have it? If you let 1/2 hour go then the curfew becomes 11.30 (if it was 11.00 to begin with-you can't let these guys off for 1/2 without letting all future ones). Then someone breaks it by another 20 minutes ... let them off too?

Let's place our frustration at the individual players for breaking the rule (regardless of whether or not we agree with it) rather than the Club for imposing the set penalty.

Good luck to the senior playing group for holding firm and imposing the penalty with out exception.Hudson is just about Adelaide's most important player ATM,if not, certainly in the top 5.

If you dont agree with the curfew in the first place, fine. When all is considered though,a break of the rules and it results in a penalty to you is fine,if you know what the 'rules' are. They knew them, they broke them.Well done to the rest for holding firm.

REB to thread......

Note: This changes Adelaide's year, not just the week ahead.BIG CALL!!!!

My view for what it is worth

Let's remember, the playing group initiated and agreed to the curfew and agreed on the penalties prior to any breach

I actually find it refreshing that a playing group has the maturity to initiate such a process and to enforce the penalty and apply the same standard to every player, no matter of their importance to the team or the importance of the next game

In a footy world, where we continue to witness discipline issues and inconsistencies with penalties based on player profiles, I am very pleased with the way the AFC playing group has handled this process

People should stop looking at the incident and focus on the environment, behaviours and culture the playing group are trying to develop, short term pain for long term gain

Well done to the three players for their honesty

So these three animals get a week, but what happened to Goodwin and the others after they got into a bit of strife at a pub last year at about 10am, and had a go at the journos who were taking photos of them? Nothing! yes, the AFC are a joke. I hope their season ends this week after getting belted in the ruck. What a bunch of wankers.

It is all very inconsistent when you know what certain other players are doing off the field. I wouldn't be happy being suspended by a playing group that I knew weren't exactly squeaky clean themselves.

Seriously.

No it is not. Professional players have a responsibility to look after their health and fitness as part of ensuring they provide their skills at optimum in return for their high salaries, just as airline pilots, doctors, and nurses have to present for work, sober, rested, and fit for duty. They can't do whatever they like the night before.

To ensure this the management has to draw a line, and mean it, otherwise the kiddies will just keep pushing the limits, like naughty 4 year olds, because they have never had to be responsible for themselves.

The moral of this story is none of them should have admitted to being out late.

And what's wrong with a financial penalty as opposed to missing a game which hurts everyone, including the SANFL clubs they play for.

The Goodwin issue was out of season as the team was breaking for Xmas

Maybe the Playing group should of suspended him from Xmas

In this case, the players initiated the curfew and agreed to the penalties up front, the easy option would of been to sweep it under the mat, but credit to the players concerned for confessing, and to the group for enforcing the agreed penalty

Honesty off the field will hopefully drive honest performance on the field

Crows can't win. I am sure, that the very same critics on this forum who are criticising the penalty, would also criticise the club if they did not enforce the penalty, just another opportunity to have a go either way

It would have got out probably anyway - be a man and own-up I say. How can you look your team-mates in the eye and say you believe in a rule, when you know you broke it yourself last weekend?

Aerie wrote:And what's wrong with a financial penalty as opposed to missing a game which hurts everyone, including the SANFL clubs they play for.

Because that's the penalty players agreed to - you can't just change it first time it's tested because 'woops, it's one of our senior players' ..... tough titties, don't do it again.

And you can't let the guys play SANFL because otherwise there's no penalty consequences for guys not playing regularly for the Crows, even tho they are part of the playing group.

Mate the club would have known the next morning the fact is some people in Adelaide have got nothing better to do than dob in high profile sports persons to their respective clubs and or to the media everytime they see them out on the town...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The fact of the matter is that a curfew is ridiculous and the AFC is starting to lose grip with reality.

Do you think we are the only club with a curfew or other player behaviour/game preparation rules?

Players do what they want at the other 15 clubs?
