A rumour no more so we now have 2 X 9 team comps as no Div 2 side wants to come up. So most players should be relatively fresh come finals with 2 byes, the June long weekend off and the country championship weekend off.

Plenty of ordinary footballers have managed to win premiership medallions.
I don't know anything about the guy you are talking about, but there is a long list of guys who were in the right place at the right time, in many leagues!
