Re: HFL Division 1 (Central)
17.5 age groups in HFL, do any clubs have them train with Senior group for the year? Do they do the senior pre season?
SFL has changed from 18 to 17.5 & 15's, any feedback from you guys would be good.

It depends on what club it is. Ours usually invites them out to do pre-season with the seniors, then when it comes January we break off into their own pre-season. They can still join in the seniors pre-season at that point if they wish to. During the season they usually train by themselves except for the few who might be good enough play seniors football throughout the year. In some cases, there are some 16/17 year old 'kids' who are better than some of the seniors.
Personally I think it's best to integrate the two together. At Under 17.5's level you're not playing for a kid and catch anymore. You should be preparing them to become quality senior footballers!

Saw Mt Barker guys out this week having a run. It didn't look super "official", but there would have been 12-15 guys out when I drove past.

Well i guess the AGM has been and gone? The HFL website has been updated with Malcolm Williams as president and Don Cranwell as VP.
New faces to the board being Chris Howie and Travis Lynn whom im not familiar with.
Best of luck to all assuming no one has yet called for a sacking yet?

Have heard that Hahndorf have now lost 3 players to South Mildura next year. One being a past mail medallist who allegedly will get $1,400 a game, $700 and $300 a game to the 2 others. They will also be getting travelling money to travel up from the hills. I guess that they must be happy with their Premiership medallion and now want to get cashed up.

May have something to do with Victorian country leagues having a larger salary cap than SA country clubs.

Correct. As a general guide proposed salary caps i have seen for some western victorian clubs range from 120-180k depending on previous ladder position, population, distance from a major city etc. which makes this between 2-3x more $$$ allowed to be paid than in s.a. Players that are prepared to travel to vic could be well compensated for their time. I believe s.a cap is trying to enforce 3k max per team as early as 2017 yet some vic clubs are allowed to spend 11+k per week.
This cant be good for s.a footy as a whole in the long run to be so far off proposed victorian salary caps. Plenty of victorian clubs approaching s.a players already by the look of it and having some recruiting success.

Re: HFL Division 1 (Central)
What the heck is the point of playing in Mildura for $300 a week from Adelaide. 8 hour round trip minimum depending where you are playing and you earn your coin there as its a better standard than any comp in SA outside Amateur Div 1. Waste of time if you aren't getting $7-800 a week when you weigh up your personal sacrifices.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

$300 to play for day , most clubs paying travelling expenses as well ie petrol money and also putting you up for night in motel at their cost so other than giving up your travelling time on weekend not costing you much. Not required to travel for training just need to train with a club in your local area
Sometimes the old guys do know whats best

Re: HFL Division 1 (Central)
If you include training, playing and travelling it's 13-16 hours a week and if you're playing at Ouyen or Robinvale it's more. $300 a week and a free feed and a bed. Don't see the point, would have to be more. Clubs up that way aren't scared to fork out 250-300k a year.

10 weeks and we will be playing 1st game ,
Any more news on recruits or player losses ?
Has the draw been finalised ?
How will the players react to threats of been suspended if they don't
Play inter- league .

Did Macky give Herbert the ass. If so should create plenty of room in the salary cap to get a decent player

No apology required, to be fair no one really cares where Herbert went anyway.
