Mrs Valleys has done a run to the inlaws with some of it, but there is only so much room.

Resigned to losing about $100 worth of food. Not much in the scheme of things, but when people in surrounding suburbs such as Greenwith and Gilles Plains lost power for a couple of hours, or not at all, and TTG is lost for 16 hours, its bulls*it.

We didn't lose power at all at modbury heights, seems every suburb around us did though

Yep, I'm at Para Hills. However the old lady lives three streets away and never lost power. The sister lives in Ingle Farm and she's still out. Inlaws live at Modbury North and they got it back about lunch.

We lost power just after midnight last night and got it back at 3am - the bedside light came on and woke me.
Today shops at Stirling and Bridgewater are out and expected to be out until 4pm tomorrow, but I'm on the strip in between that also supplies Aldgate, where the local 7 day supermarket is lapping up the extra business.

There are 5 trees down in my street including one in my front garden.
One of them blocked the street and took out a neighbour's car that was in the street at the time.
(New house, and the driveway not yet navigable by anything but a 4WD.)

You get these storms this time of the year with leftovers of cyclones coming down from over northern WA. Last year we had some big ones too, one of them picked up the big wedgie down at Glenelg and they are still trying to get it down from the pine trees at Colley Reserve.

It's uncanny how many times you see a heatwave over Perth and Adelaide when there is a Cyclone between Broome and Bali.

Yep, I'm avoiding Glenelg this summer.

Our power went out Tuesday about 11pm. Called the wife at 9 this morning and it was still out.

Wow that sucks!

We got ours back just before 6pm last night. Are you in a similar area TRB?

No. We are in Crafers West ATM. I don't think we'll renew the lease. In ten months we've had at least 6 black outs, and it rains all the bloody time!
One good thing is it's cooler up here. When I checked the milk this morning it was still cool. I haven't opened the freezer since the blackout started, I'm hoping the meat is still okay. Icecream will be rooted.

We'll probably get ours back too then. Still haven't returned home yet today, so can only hope.

Finally got power back at 1pm today. 64 hour black out has come to an end.
Wife says most of the meat is still frozen. Everything in the freezer is still cold and the icecream slightly melted.
I think we got through it okay.

A once-in-ten year summer storm is set to hit Adelaide overnight, with the following severe weather warning issued:

http://www.bom.gov.au/catalogue/warning ... w-sa.shtml

Interesting use of "once-in-ten year" given our recent track record!!
