We also have silver.

Not the point I am trying to make. Personally, a white river would look better than a teal one.

Should be in the Port Store in about 4 weeks I'm told. You can get yours below, Wedgie. :D I agree with all the comments, probably our best design yet.

Gavin Wanganeen is this year designing the art work for the footys to be used in the Sir Doug Nicholls Indigenous round. Gav is making a name for himself off field with his art, I've placed an order for one of his prints as a surprise for Mrs Boon. Mrs Boon does a fair bit of work with some indigenous kids at her school and has grown a real appreciation for aboriginal art, I think she'll like the one on it's way to us.

The fact that SPP and Eddy are being talked about as walk up starts for R1 confirms the lack of depth and recruiting in recent drafts. Although I see my man Amon got plenty of the ball on the weekend.

Did Port hit the first 2 games of the JLT coming off a heavy workload? Seemed like they weren;t covering the ground well, didn;t see Sundays game but reports are they covered it much better.

I think Eddy is a good in for them a genuine forward that looks like hes a bit mobile as well and not 1 dimensional.

SPP looks like a good young player and I wouldn't be surprised if he didnt get a run to add some freshness, hardnesd and more pace to them.

You are correct though in regards to depth, they may have added some kids to the squad but the depth is still an issue.

Having watched Eddy up close against the Bay's a fair bit, I would liken him to a Jake Stringer type forward. Not overly conventional with how he gets the ball and scores a lot from general play. Doesn't handball much haha.

SPP does look good and they would want to keep an eye on his workload. I'm not yet convinced he will have the output straight up like Wines did.

I too am not overly impressed by their depth but that is to be tested.

Ok....

I'm not sure how a top 20 pick with a mature body ( 187cm / 91 kg ) can reflect poor depth, Powell-Pepper would be playing round 1 in plenty of sides.

Missing from the side that Powell-Pepper played in on Saturday is Wingard, R.Gray and to a lesser midfield extent Broadbent, Pittard and Krakouer. That will mean 4-5 from that side will drop down to the SANFL alongside Drew, Ah Chee, Palmer, Snelling, Toumpas.

So the likes of White, Bonner, Neade, Atley, Houston, S.Gray and even Amon could be behind SPP along with the 5 or so mentioned above. We're building midfield depth. SPP is a gun though.

Eddy is a mature age replacement for Schulz ( will try to be anyway ) and is a reflection of not so much the recent drafts but the time invested and wasted in Harvey and Shaw over the last 5 years. Two KPP who didn't come on and we needed to cover that position, we didn't have time to develop a couple of KPP forwards as we spent too long ( IMO ) on Harvey and Shaw.

Recent draft / trade periods netted Dixon and Ryder into the side, Dixon the quick fix for the two mentioned above. It was need at the time and the draft wasn't the place to pick up a key forward ready to play, unless he was mature age as we've done with Eddy.

As for the JLT, I can't comment as I'm not aware of the load the players were doing in the early part of the new year.

And Pirate, come on, not all posts about Alberton are trolls but when a poster / admin has a pretty good track record then it's reasonable for those of us defending Queen St to be suspicious, at least.

Thanks Boon, Id probably wait for a few premiership point games before calling him a gun though.

Interesting that they rushed Dixon back and played in all 3 JLT games off minimal pre-season...perhaps the best option would have been to keep him running and building towards Round 1?

SPP is $9 favorite to win the Rising Star, not just me who thinks that.

Perhaps, but I think Hinkley is pretty keen to make Charlie work for his supper.

Fair call, but the shields deploy too quickly some times.

My depth query is up forward. I think you have enough guys to rotate through the midfield but some need to improve consistency. Skipper needs to lift and Wines has to be more efficient with disposal. Settle on a backline and stop moving Westoff around so much that he looks lost at times. Ryder is going to be your "barometer" this season and it is key that he remains positive.

Forward potency will be the challenge.

So running on the track is better preparation for round 1 than actually getting game time in to him? :?

No substitute for match fitness.

Yes and no mate.
Dixon looks outta sorts already.
I would have played him at the Magpies and get him clunking a few marks to get his confidence back.

For a midfield/running player yes, but you could put much more work into him on the track over these weeks than by playing games considering he missed all of Dec/Jan.
