Agree Cats aren't purring as they would like, but talent wise they are way above all 3 opponents to date, hence the ? mark untill they play to their potential.

They've looked vulnerable to quicker teams in the last two weeks, but the trade off is that when they needed to make big plays, they had the class, experience and belief to make sure they did.

Perfectly consistent with what Lewis and Hogan got last week. The MRP showing some consistency.

From earlier today :

Both Lewis and Hogan got the 3 matches as the contact was "intentional" ( as with Ryder ) with "medium impact" to the head. Lewis bad record saw one added so 4 down to 3 with early guilty plea. Hogan was 3 down to 2 with early guilty plea. I'm thinking Ryder will get 3 down to 2, but I'm hopeful of 2 down to 1 as I think it might be "low impact" compared to the left hook Hogan threw into Rowe's chin, Ryder looked more open hand.

Can Port play Westhoff, Eddy and Young in the same forward line?

I thought Eddy was OK the first couple of games but as someone pointed out he's too slow and doesn't offer enough.
Westhoff is done and should be dropped IMO.

Whilst Gray was a bit quieter in the showdown he is still clearly your best player.

And Jonas is the biggest plodder in the AFL, with Zac Dawson the only one close to taking that title!
His effort with Eddie Betts one on one in that marking contest was embarrassing to say the least.

You couldn't be more wrong about Jonas. You think he's the first bloke Betts has beaten in a 1 on 1? One marking contest where Betts had the position and bodied Jonas perfectly. Hardly makes Jonas a plodder. Betts got his 3 goals but had no other goal assists, that's been his biggest skill in the last 3 years, giving goals off to his team mates. You've got Jonas wrong.

I'll agree with Westhoff, time to get Jesse Palmer back into the side I think. Dixon, Trengove, Eddy, Young, Wingard, R.Gray looks more balanced for mine. Westhoff has struggled since mid last year, I think it's time he earned his position. Being 6'10" means he hasn't had to do that for 3 years as we've lacked any real height.

Palmer looks lively in the forward half and can be mobile up the ground. I like the look of him.

When they showed the replay on Saturday night, it looked to me like Knight hit Ryder in the stomach first. Then he doubles over. You can even see Knight looking at him like he knows he is going to retaliate. I haven't been able to see a replay since though to confirm, as the one on the AFL site doesn't show the first incident. I am sure if this is the case Port would be challenging??

Hombsch, Trengove and Clurey look far better options than Jonas IMO.
Jonas looks slow at times to me and one on one he looks vulnerable.

Yeah, all three were less than impressive on Saturday.
We probably did well to get as close as we did when you consider their output.

Eddy will end up being one of those guys who is good at SANFL level, but not up to AFL for mine. Similar to say Damon White.

That marking contest between Betts and Jonas was a direct result of Westhoff not taking possession of the footy, instead choosing to tap it on, straight to the crows who then hit up walker in the centre square, allowing quick movement into the crows 50, and the spare defender couldn't impact the play at all.

I think Ports area of concern against the better sides, is moving the ball from defense to attack when other teams are on top. They are good at absorbing the pressure and reducing score conceded, but they need to counter and hit the scoreboard themself to really give the opposition something to think about.

2nd quarter on Sat night was a good example, Crows were well on top and Port got the numbers back to soak it up, but more often than not when they cleared the ball, the well organised Crows mopped it up and put it back into the forward 50.

For mine this is the area Port need to improve, but they have enough quality to do it

Knight put a block on Ryder then Ryder chased and went wack.
Poor reaction from Paddy but probably part of the reason Knight could expect contact and therefore able to take it slightly better than say Rowe from Hogan.

I like the look of Palmer and would leave out either Westhoff or Eddy to bring him back in.
Young may be in trouble as well as he has had an ordinary start to the year.

Young was excellent against Sydney, had an ok one against Fremantle and was hurt early when Mackay drove him into the ground in the South Eastern pocket on Saturday night. How it wasn't a free I don't know.
