True, be a pretty boring place if we didn't offer an opinion on here though, wouldn't it?

True, but there seems to be no basis for a lot of the stuff said on here.

People can apparently predict 5 years into the future based on a list of players they've never seen play. North Melbourne have their 9th AFL debutant of the year this week. How can anyone say they won't gel and push for finals in two years?

I can't say they will, but I can't say they won't either.

But you can have an opinion on it... ;)

And ( dare I say it ) trends show that a side who spends time at the pointy end of the ladder and cleans out the dusty cupboards take time to make their way back up the ladder after the rebuild.

I agree, you can have an opinion. But at least give proper explanations of how you came to have those opinions.

Saying "trends" means f**k all. What you're basing your opinion on is what happened to other teams filled with other players. The Bulldogs went from mediocre, to winning a premiership, to mediocre again. Give me another example of that happening. Where's that trend?

It's pretty much the same as picking a team to win because "they're due".

Nobodies mentioned Ben Cunnington in the useless "elite" discussion earlier.

2017
3rd in Contested Possessions
3rd in Total Clearances
1st in Clearances Per Game
4th in Handballs Per Game

Averaging 26 disposals and 5 tackles a game.

I'm not saying he's elite (partly because I think this term is something that the AFL media are trying to market), but he's at least one of North Melbournes best, and no one even thinks about mentioning him. That's how much you guys really know about the team.

He played pretty much a lone hand last week.

Yep I reckon Ben has gone from a B grader to an A grader this year and should be in the AA top 40, don;t think there is a better inside hand baller in the game.

You'd have lost by 170 if not for Cunnington. At one stage he had 11 touches, 11 contested. ( 26 of his 33 over all ).

I would think most people are looking at Norths future without the likes of Goldstein, Higgins, Waite, Tarrant and Thompson playing their best footy again and don't see the ready made replacement for 5 blokes who have supplied a lot of Norths good play over the last 4 or 5 years.

Throw in Swallow who looks cooked, at best one paced, Anderson a dud trade, *Edited before Dutchy got here*, Hansen can't make the side, Waite is 34......there's another clean out coming either this year or next.

Some fair points, you guys are taking Lindsay off our hands next year anyway :)

Im enjoying the rebuild, its been a while since we have been through this and while there is some negatives, there are plenty of positives too, we might just surprise you.

So the strong rumour going around...
Kurt Tippett straight swap for Todd Goldstein @ years end. Has anyone else heard this?
What do people think?

The way it looks with last years retirements / delistings and the ones to come this year and next you're almost ( I say almost ) into a Carlton like rebuild which, granted, they weren't anywhere near as high up the table as you at any stage, means you'll need either some quality picks or trades to supplement what you already have. There's loads of work to be done in the trade period, not just with the players you have at your disposal now.

Yes, North Melbourne have had some big losses this season, but they also lost to the Bulldogs twice (once by 1 point and once by 3) and Geelong by 1 point.

So the current team, including 9 rookies this season, kept up with the reigning premiers, and the team touted to knock off the top team this week.

I don't think it's all doom and gloom, and I don't think most North supporters do either. All the negativity is coming from outside, which Port, Crows, etc supporters wouldn't be used to, because they seem to attack their own clubs when the going gets tough.

Fair chance its rubbish. Most of thes rumours are.

We certainly don't think we need Goldstein anyway. We have Naismith, Sinclair and Dawson who is a gun.

I'd say I'd be accused of the opposite, if anything, but I see your point and as I noted earlier, of course North fans have hope, for without hope what is there?

You're one of the ok ones ;)

The amount of bullshit I see from Port/Crows supporters after a loss, and then the Olympic level back flip the next week when they win is amazing. That's partly why I rarely get into these discussions.

Today I was just bored when I started reading this thread, and once I start, I find it hard to stop
