HAHAHA. Interviewed the guy in 2012/2013 for our coaching job. Only took 2 phone calls to confirm it would be a bad decision.

But in all seriousness, I could post some screenshots of conversations where it's "100% categorically not coaching Lonsdale" repeated over and over again.

But then things change, apparently.

I think it was a case that they had a player who wanted to coach but was a bit green so Lynchy is going to mentor him or something. Whatever. Likely story.

Good luck to him and Lonsdale! No matter what he's a premiership coach and ex president of my Football Club so always got love for The Slug.

It's not a premiership winning pissing contest.

I was refuting the logic that we didn't do out due diligence when hiring Lynchy. We did, we found out some negative things, like we have for every candidate ever, decided to go for it and manage it. Won a flag.

The mistake we made was probably not keeping Lynch on for longer, TBH.

Reckon if either he or you said to MP "I wanna take a senior coaching role at another club" they would've been anything but supportive?

Cant speak for him mate. Not privy to their conversations, but all I know is he still wanted to coach again, and good on him.

Well from an outsiders perspective, the way morell played down the rumours makes it seem like either you weren't up front with them, or the club just didn't get the message lol.

Why are you conflating Lynchy and Knowles? They're two completely different scenarios.

We knew all along Knowles was a chance to be not coaching us again. He resigned, we accepted. This was a couple of weeks after Lynchy stepped down.

Lynchy was honest about wanting to coach again one day but told us he wasn't doing it at Lonsdale. He was their footy director for a bit but then they weren't happy with the crop of coaches so asked him if he'd do it. That's the story anyway, we'll never know if all of that was a load of shit and he always intended on coaching.

Both shitty circumstances for Mitchell Park, unfortunately, but we'll soldier on unperturbed.



And to answer the previous question. Yes we do have a preferred candidate, we are trying to structure a deal now.
