LIVERPOOL V CHELSEA wrong result ?

Postby mal » Mon Aug 20, 2007 10:40 am

LIVERPOOL 1
CHELSEA 1

Very tough uncompromising game, brilliant to watch.
Liverpool scored first with a brilliant goal to TORRES in the first half
In the second half at the 60 min mark another controversy came about
A very dubious penalty was awarded to Chelsea when a Liverpool defender and a Chelsea
player collided in the penalty box.
A penalty was awarded to Chelsea and LAMPARD converted.
The penalty in my eyes and to the commentary team was unwarranted
Liverpool throughout this game looked the better team and would be shattered with the draw
Chelsea should be feeling fortunate to get a point

The wrong result ?
I think so

Now back to a favourite discussion point of mine
Do we have a 3rd umpire for penalty decisons ?
I think so

We saw Man Utd win a title last season after appearing to get more than a fair share of penalties.
The higher placed sides get more soft penalties ?
2 penalties given in 2 years at Liverpools home ground
Both to Chelsea....

As for the game
LIVERPOOL 1
GIFTSEA 1

I think a third ref would be a good idea...BUT good sides have a way to score and if that means getting a penalty than so be it...
Would have to make sure it's a quick decision, because you wouldn't want to take away momentum...

Chelski, still struggling to score...
The joy of being on the hill drinking beer cannot be understated

go the blues, dodgy pen but it was no more than we deserved, could have put 2 or 3 up them with the chances we had, liverpool should consider themselves lucky to get a point! fine finish from torres i will admit but the rest of their "shots" were off gerrards shin

LOL nice try ... Liverpool were by far the more dominant team and only a ridiculous decision prevented them from winning ... Hopefully we're just saving our luck for the business end of the year to shatter Jose's CL dreams (*cough* again).

PENALTY ROBBED IN STYLE
-------------------------

Referee Rob Styles has also received a penalty
He will not be officiating in this weeks round of EPL games
Both teams managers Mourinho and Benetiz are exchanging words to the media

Do we need this ?

Take the pressure off the refs and get the 3rd ump, or videos for penaltys
Rob Styles now has to live with the stigma of being an inadequate ref.

He's well and ruly earnt that stigma himself Mal regardless of the horrendous penalty decision ... Even in this game alone, there were plenty of bad decisions and cards given (not just for Liverpool) .. He even prevented 2 Liverpool shots on goal by getting in the way of the player with the ball FFS!

All of this is nothing new to styles, he's almost a showman and wouldn't surprise me if his reffing gig is just a void to earn him a spot in some half assed reality TV show ... Fecking prick, hope he chokes on his muesli this morning!

Perhaps he think someone needs to step up to the dubious plate now that Graham Poll has got the arse!!

The video ref option is getting mega coverage over here. Don't be surprised to see it introduced if not before seasons end, next season. The talk is that it will be only used for goal decisions, which is as far as it should go IMO. The penalty decisions should still be down to the ref, just like an LBW decision should remain with the umpire at that end in cricket.

On Rob(bed Liverpool) Styles, agree with everything there CP. He's a joker. Good to see no team will have to deal with his shits for the next 4 weeks. Happy Holidays Rob!

Or worse, getting relegated to ref in the CCC

Surely thats still too high for him? Perhaps the Under 12's in Guatamala or something?

Me, bitter ... no way!

These things happen in sport ... There's still plenty of uncertainty over Garcia's goal that knocked Chelsea out of the CL Semi at Anfield in 05, so you take the good with the bad, just hope no other teams suffer the misfortune of his mis-used responsibility in the future.

Agree C-P. Trouble is, that is where the premiership dropouts get sent when they f$%k up. We get them in the CCC, just to f%^k up even more as they are not used to the CCC style.
