agree with you newman should very interesting to see how the league handle this as i would think that any facial injury would certainly be classified as severe head high contact regardless

With Christofis's good record, his status as a state rep and the way Districts seem to be able to influence a tribunal, i wouldnt be surprised if he gets a repremand........

Was there last Sunday, good nick. If you're in the home rooms, they're in better nick.

On what grounds was he cleared? There wasn't any doubt he did it was there it was just if it was deliberate or accidental wasn't it? Seems like a weak decision to me!

Havent change my tune at all, just telling you what I saw,and from the start I said it seemed very out of character for him.

What you all don't know (and just assumed) was that Cheesey broke his jaw. He didn't. Just a lump where he was hit and a nice case of concussion. He didnt want to take it any further and ruin the guys chances of playing in a premiership. we contacted the league to tell them so, although we were told that he unfortunately still get the mandatory 1 game for being red carded and there was nothing we could do to change that.

What a joke fc. Your club changes their tune pretty quickly. You whinge and moan about blood flicked on a player and that guy gets 4 weeks but a guy who actually gets reported you try and help. Can tell where your allegiance is Payneham. The outcome stinks hope ramblers cleans house in the finals and sticks it right up all of you!!!

Oh yeah Newman, we definately have "allegiances" with Districts and love them to death and cant stand Ramblers  In fact were siding with them to have ramblers voted off the next show... FFS!!!

There are probably some people at our club who thought it stank as well, but at the end of the day it was up to our players choice as to whether he wanted any charges to stick and he didnt, so we didnt show up to the tribunal.

Just as if our player didn't want to take the Rexy thing any further, we wouldnt have. All we did was respect the wishes of our player and back them up when needed. It has nothing to do with "hating" or "revenge" against any particular club.

Hope this clears things up Newman... and BTW, you may want to get your paranoia checked out by a professional....

When did players and clubs start running the tribunal procession, what do the umpires and SAAFL officials do these days?

I don't think it's a matter of the players running it, but just like in any court of "law" if the "victim" wants to drop the charges then I guess they are entitled to do so. I'm a bit surprised he was completely cleared, I still would have thought he would have got the 1 game, but thats it.

Agreed Buzz how can the tribunal be swayed by a player who thinks that another player should get off. The tribunal is there to independantly judge each case.

I must say the decision is very surprising considering what actually happened. I'm not sure what the message being sent by the league is now. Is it ok to swing and elbow and make head high contact with an opponent. This verdict may set off a chain reaction where other clubs may refer back to this very decision. Any way decision is done lets move on. Who is going to tip the winners for this week.
