Agree that Jarman situation very similar to Carman situation. Noticed Jarman at 3Q time address 2 weeks ago seem controlled until he spotted ABC microphone overhead and then his volume and histrionics trebled immediately. There has to be more than just front and theatre to coaching but Jarman doesnt seem to understand that. Whist we have spent big time on recruiting it still appears we play good offensive footy but struggle defensively and against disciplined sides much like Jarman as a player. His ego is still a major problem!

That'd make a good cartoon strip Footynut! Anyone willing to have a go at portraying in pictures the above scenario?

I assume you are talking about Eagles match.

I too noticed that, as I went to the 3Q North Huddle to hear some 'inspiring words' after a terrific 3rd Quarter from our guys, left disappointed with what he had to say.

Having said that it was difficult to hear ALL of it as the North fans around me didn't seem too enthused by the team's 3Q effort.

He'd have to be gone @ end of season, wouldn't he ??
Would need a miracle (GF spot) - from 4th IS out of the question.
They would need to finish top 3 for that to be a REAL possiblity.

Don't you think Wedgie, Footynut, BPBRB, Punky, etc. ???? :)

I would love to post my personal thoughts or opinion on this matter but I know where it will end up. But your on the money LEH I would think and most North people (NOT ME) would agree.

Please note - that was guess as to what other people might be thinking!

Well, whatever Jars said at 3 quarter time must have worked cos North came back from almost 5 goals down to almost snatch a victory in the last quarter...

Yes LEH I think Jarmans time has come and it is now time for someone with some substance and coaching nous to takeover. Jars I think is best suited to clown prince rather than League Coach.

Honest question ... If Jars were to move on you would think his time would be deemed partially successful given he has taken North from perennial cellar dwellars into a powerful unit with a quality list ... Would clubs like South, West and Norwood have any interest? Im sure all three would be happy to see regular finals involvement as a starting point.

A PLAYING legend, YES, absolute star - no doubt, loved watching him play :)

A COACHING legend, Don't think so... with the quality of players he has had at his disposal, they should have done MUCH better during his reign... parallels couls be drawn with Grant Thomas @ St. Kilda I think 8)

Don't forget, Jars return to Prospect also coincided with the club getting back on its feet financially, something that had been put in place pre Jars.
In his own words, the job isn't finished yet, and I'm not trying to take anything away from his achievements as coach, but with the pre 2004 financial situation, would the improvement have been as dramatic.

Fair call mate, but you look at clubs like Westies and South who have had the finances over the years but have still struggled to reach Norths current status.

I reckon the showman side of Jars could be offputting to some clubs but he's achieved enough that some clubs would have to take a serious look at him I think.

Jars is getting 'boned' by sections of the club already IMO

If there's legitimate issues with his coaching, fine accept that

If it's because of issues with his personality or some of his decisions regarding players then :?

Surely he deserves one more season - injuries and AFL in-and-outs have not helped the cause this season. And the season's not even over despite what some posters think! Suddenly some North fans seem to have a 'premiership or bust' mentality which is tough expectations

If the club makes a change then so be it, i'll support the new coach just the same

Hondo, i haven't heard many North supporters say "premiership or bust". I will however point out the at the AGM Andrew Jarman himself set the bar by saying that nothing short of playing off in a Grand Final this year was acceptable. He said this is what he would be judged on. His words not mine.

I'm not saying he should go, or stay, but aren't those issues that he and every other SANFL coach have to deal with every season.

Word on the street Jars might be around for a while yet.

I think the North board will play it smart even if Jars doesn't get a flag as you just don't dump someone because they've failed to do what they've set out to do, you dump someone if you think there's someone else that can do a better job.

I don't see anyone around that could do a better job at the moment IMHO.
