I agree BUT he has been out injured coming back in the twos will do him good .

He WILL PLAY if Kenny plays tonight, I think.

I think they'll play Salter so it would be either Klun or Petrenko and I hope they play Petrenko. Klun we know we'd get a solid game out of, but Petrenko could add that bit extra to the team come September. They need to find that out now.

And kenny mac is a travelling emergancy for the crows.

Kenny although travelling to Melbourne did not play should be on his way back early this morning and will be a starter today. If not we have Grocke named in the 2's and he would be the obvious replacement. I too hope Petrenko plays but having said that Kluny hasn't done anything wrong with his chances this season and is equally deserving of another shot at the 1's. Either way it will be a tough call for Ronny and the selectors. Congratulations to Ron on the re-appointment thoroughly deserved as we haven't missed the finals under his guidance, more of the same should happen over the next 2 seasons. This will als make him the longest serving coach in WWTFC history stretching this to 9 seasons in total if he sees out all of his 2 year extension.

South were also playing a lot better brand of footy this time last season. I'm thinking a similar result to last week against West.

I thought i'd never say this but what the hell. C'mon Tigers!!!. With a Sturt loss and Eagles percentage boosting win against South we could potentialy be in 2nd spot tonight. C'mon Eagles you need to come out today and play a hard, tough, accountable brand of footy and we can get the job done.

From Rd 21 2007 West v Eagles @ Broadspec.

StrayDog wrote:.....

If my side were in the same position (needing percentage) and playing form footy, I don't think I'd be happy with anything less all out percentage busting efforts (and results to match) against the bottom two sides this fortnight. I reckon you'll see just that. Eagles to win both games with little (if any) change left from 100 points each.

Sorry West (and South) fans - no disrespect intended.

As Aerie has already said, last week saw around 20 goals lopped off WWT'S percentage gap with Sturt (would have been more if the 'dogs been more accurate v Sturt).

Percentage is (currently) still a factor for the Eagles (re top three) and so my prediction for this week's match hasn't changed much - if anything, I feel it was a touch conservative.

The Eagles have stepped up a gear or two since mid season and have kicked (v South) 20+ goals to 11 twice this year - and that was before the wheels really fell off at South. I reckon you'll see both (v South) the Eagles' "Biggest Winning Margin" and "Highest Score" records broken today (see Wedgie's post above). I guess a final margin of 110 to 120 points is on the cards.

Post-weekend, I'll be happy to cop the written abuse if I'm proved wrong on anything above. Whatever the result, South supporters (and SA football in general) have deserved better than what South have served up this year.

Another ho-hum game against weak opposition. The Eagles have done what they needed to do in the last fortnight and that is get enough percentage built to go above Sturt. Glenelg have done us some favours by beating North and Sturt so we now sit in 2nd spot unlikely to lose the double chance. Even if both Sturt and us lose next week the difference would need to be greater than about 13 goals for them to go above us.

The highlight of the game for me today was the return of Nick Salter. He is turning into a very good footballer at this level and his 6 goals were all class. Passador and Schwarze also kicked 6 each. Passador unfortunately jagged his hammy with 10 minutes to go in the game so would expect him to miss some footy. Inkster also went off with a leg injury after a collision. Luckily we had Grocke and Symmons in the reserves today who would come straight back in if these guys are injured. Also had Lomas and Colville out today so there is plenty of depth.

Petrenko was impressive off the back flank in his first game. Wouldn't mind seeing him pushed up to a wing or on a forward flank, but he did enough today to go again next week. I though Peter Fiacchi was one of our better players in his 100th game and Bernie Vince was solid again.

In both the first halves this week and last week we have played some ordinary footy and we'll have to lift to get to where we need to be for Glenelg next week and then finals. Some sloppy sheperding and a couple of occasions where commitment wasn't 100% going back in to a pack needs to be rectified, but besides that things are looking good.

Eagles 5.2 9.5 18.5 25.9 (159)
South 2.2 5.4 7.6 8.8 (56)

Scorers: Eagles: Salter 6.1, Passador, Schwarze 6.0, Vince 2.0, McGregor, Fairclough 1.1, Klun, Treeby, Cicolella 1.0, Jarrad 0.2, McKenzie 0.1, Rushed 0.3.
South: Warren 4.1, Thewlis, Maddox, Munkara 1.0, Handby 0.2, Ellis, McGrath, Smith, Parry, Norsworthy 0.1. (I missed 1 goal to South)

Time: 1st: 27:18
2nd: 27:25
3rd: 31:26
4th: 30:55
Total: 117:04

Sorry, sturt1, they were hard boiled eggs today. Well, ok, in the 2nd half. The first? Well, if we play like that against Glenelg for a half, we will get smashed. The first half was a carbon copy of last week, if not worse, and to do that against Glenelg will cost us the double chance (if North win).

It's very hard to describe South. Comparing to West last week, South played better, had a key forward playing well - Warren - and had some run in the midfield, but still lost by 103 points. Probably our x amount of forwards and accuracy helped more than last week I guess.

It's too hard to give best players, but the hype about Jared Petrenko is justified I think. Shame he will be around the club until November only.

In short, turning up to a game of football in the third quarter will make a side lose a match, particularly against an ominious Glenelg side.

yet another worthwhile day at the footy...

First half was pretty competitive really, and i thought with a bit of luck we could have been within 2 or 3 goals at 1/2 time. Endeavour and spirit was certainly there, but skills were lacking.

But to be then outscored by 13 goals in a half of footy is disgrace, regardless of the opposition.

The eagles talls killed us for the third time this year. Salter particularly impressed.

Better players for south would have been Maddox, McGlone, Wright and Warren.

I hate to single out one bloke, but a former Crows listed midfielder should never wear the blue and white ever again.

umm.. yeah.

Just my opinion of course, but i watched him closely in the second half.

And the lack of respect he showed his team mates and opposition after the game is unacceptable.

But yes, we had plently in the same boat though today [-(
