Helping our C grade win. Simple. Bloke is nearly 40 FFS.
The “full pace” call is a laugh though I know he wasn’t.. regardless wouldn’t have changed the outcome of the game.
End of the day, any other game would’ve been different and approached differently, but our side needed to be selfish and do what was required to obtain the result needed to secure a finals spot.. Did what was necessary, as most other sides would’ve in the same position - I won’t lose any sleep over it.
Also sort the facts, they had 3 girls - two at least have had very good seasons in D1 of the women’s comp - and we fielded a girl also. She would’ve bowled more to the ATCO girls as had originally planned but unfortunately the wickets fell at the other end too quickly.

Anyone who has come across Gully over the years would know he’s a good guy, genuine and certainly not a sandbagger or one to play below his ability.. he has been the backbone of then A grade for almost 20yrs, seasons when wins were as rare as winning lotto he stuck true when he could’ve taken the easy road like so many others.
Gully has been battling back injury all season, he’s struggled to bowl and field - very rarely has he been able to bowl more than 3 or 4 overs, and he’s spent the last couple games in the B grade then C grade.
He bowled 2 overs in the first innings FFS.
