Come on Blues supporters...fire up!
Truth be known, all that is required is to win next week thus beginning a 4 game winning streak!
It CAN be done!
So we lost last night when we had North down and out.
We can draw on some great positives from passages last night.
Young Charles looked pretty dangerous until he got belted by a thug...welcome to League Footy son!
Fitzy's grandson looks like he's got some of granddad's class, will only get better.
Kutze looked dangerous for a while too.
All you Blues supporters who call yourselves supporters, where the hell were you? All I could see was Red and White everywhere! The Chook supporters are not afraid to show their colours!
If you love your club you need to show up next week...or have you given up already!
I hope not!
Failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.

Funnily enough it was Sturt who stole the double chance from us in 04.

double chance on the line... 50pts up 3rd term and it should have been level at 3 qtr time..

Get your ears checked mate. That 'mark' was taken about 2 seconds after the siren went.

No need for the insults, to the people in the outer making the real noise it was definately before the mark but after talking to the North supporters on the members side it was definately after the mark.
No need to be rude, sound does take a while to travel slower than light.

As bad as North have choked in recent years we've never choked to the degree of 50 points in one half, full marks for Sturt leading the way there. :?

Perhaps Sturt fans would be better off asking where their noise was when the North coach dragged the players over to where the real fans are at a game.
Only difference between the sides tonight was the supporters.
All of Rick Mc's hard work was undone by passion and supporter noise tonight, that must hurt.

Nice gloat Wedgie.

From The Roost!:

NORTH 3-3 4-7 12-10 15-12 102
STURT 6-2 11-3 14-4 15-5 95

AMAZING COMEBACK OF EPIC PROPORTIONS!

Best: A Jarman, Hart, Allan, Ladhams, Younie, Ivens, Wundke, Krieg
Goals: Wundke 4, Howard, Wright 2, Younie, White, Ladhams, Bamford, Hart, McIntrye, O’Hara
Crowd: 2,564 at Adelaide Oval

A double chance spot in the finals has been secured, courtesy of an amazing comeback win against Sturt which will quickly enter the club’s annals of history as one of the greatest wins.

Down and out on the scoreboard at half-time, having been restricted to just 4 goals, our boys rallied superbly from a 50 point deficit four minutes into the last half to post a pulsating 11-5 to a paltry 2-2 for the remainder of the match!

The only disappointing thing was that there was not a deserving crowd of 5,000+ to witness it – albeit the vastly superior numbers of North supporters in the crowd certainly made some noise, including the haunting and spine-tingling ‘U Reds’ permeating from the Grog Squad Hill.

In a touching moment of solidarity within the club, ‘Jars’ moved the playing group towards the scoreboard hill at the closing stages of his three-quarter time address, in a ploy which clearly motivated both players and supporters alike. “I’ll be honest with you, the football manager James Moore has to take credit for that. At first I said no, but then I thought these are passionate people who love their players, so let’s go for it, get over there. They’ve (the supporters) have to take a lot of credit for that – not just the guys on the hill but our whole supporter base”, Jarman said.

The amazing turn around in fortunes was on the coattails of a first half of the Brant Chambers show – the Sturt forward leading us a merry dance with five first-half goals.

However, whilst Sturt certainly opened the contest in a positive fashion, our boys were only out of the contest primarily due to sloppy finishing in front of goal – most notably in the second stanza when we could only muster an inaccurate 1-4 to 5-1.

Down 38 points at the long break, and with the prospect of a double-chance slipping from their grasp, it was a case of cometh the hour…cometh the man.

“I grabbed the board at half-time…I will back my decision making, I’ll take a risk. The guys’ know as a coach I will take risks. I don’t stick to too many things for too long if they’re not working. I brought the big guns into the middle and I put ‘Benno’ (Ben Hart) and Damon (White) onto the wings. The work rate was great and there were blokes suicidal at the contest and I think that made everyone proud”, Jarman said.
Indeed, the moves by Jarman were instrumental in facilitating North’s rise off the canvass in the last half, with Ben Hart yet again showing his class and coolness in a crisis. “That’s why he is one of the greats, he can play for another 2 years the way he is going”, Jarman noted. “You need someone like him in a special game like this. The boys rub off him, they love him, and he just calm’s them down”.

The third quarter frenzy unfolded after Sturt posted the first two goals of the last half to lead by an amazing 13-3 to 4-7 – and North facing a sudden death elimination final the following week.

With a revised structure of Hart and White on the wings, Alleway at centre-half back, and McIntrye up forward, North catapulted themselves back into the contest with a heart-stopping eight goal term – which could have been nine (and scores level at three-quarter time) had Michael Wundke’s mark (and possible shot at goal) at three quarter time not been disallowed.

Subsequently, at the last break, it was game on at Adelaide Oval! However, Sturt were never going to claw themselves back into the contest given our boys absolute hunger for victory. There were simply too many instances of heroism in the last stanza to mention as North collectively put their bodies on the line to secure the holy grail of a double chance in the finals.

Indeed, it took only twenty seconds into the last quarter for young gun Michael Wundke to level the scores and reignite the Roosters for the last stanza, the youngster being given clear room to act as the primary target up forward.

The young star didn’t disappoint, with four goals for the contest acting as a signature statement on yet another positive showing. “It’s the best game I’ve ever had”, Wundke said, when queried on how the game sat within his short eleven game senior career. “It will most probably be one of the greatest wins I will ever be involved with”, he said.

As for the ploy of migrating towards the supporters on the hill at three quarter time? “That got us up, we knew we had them (Sturt). They were out of run, and we applied a lot of pressure on their midfield. I have to take my hat off to ‘Jars’ as he has backed us young guys in”.

Whilst all the boys contributed during the night, ranging from the class of Ben Hart…the typical consistency, poise and skills of Heath Younie…the ‘comeback’ from Josh Coulter after being soundly beaten in the first half in defence…to the inspirational ‘Jimmy’ Allan and the unheralded and quietly efficient Matty Krieg…the ‘best-afield’ award should surely be reserved for coach Andrew Jarman in instigating numerous moves that kick-started the North resurgence in a game that had many potential outcomes riding on it. “We had to get the double chance, because if we didn’t I thought we were going backwards. I would have had to ask myself some serious questions”, Jarman noted.

Whilst the special memories of last night’s victory will understandably burn for some time yet, the playing group must quickly refocus their resolve on a pay-back for last year’s finals exit against the Eagles next week (assuming they don’t get absolutely thumped by the Tigers, in which case we will lock horns with Sturt again next week!).

Until next week, from one happy intrepid reporter who won’t forget Round 23, 2007 in a hurry!!

Ben Hart has answered his early season critics in the best way possible recently

It would have to be one of the best comebacks of all time I would guess? Top 20 all-time maybe?

Edit - second sentence refers to last night's game, not Benny Hart!

Yeah, they've all gone very quiet after being very critical of the decision to recruit him earlier this year. Considering the amount of games he's missed to be 3rd in the Roost player of the year award is amazing, if he'd played every game he'd probably be the Magarey Medal favourite!

It appears that Sturt1 just likes to stir on this site, seems to me deep down he is a tad concerned about next week....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I'm trying to imagine what it will be like if Sturt bow out next week - the litany of excuses for it from the likes of Sturt1 - daylight caused players muscles to melt and get soft tissue injuries, the crowd on the hill was too loud, the man upstairs blew the wind the wrong way, there was a giant conspiracy from umpires.

Sometimes the better team just wins on the day.

Mind you, had a chuckle watching the ABC coverage yesterday, when they replayed Jarman's three quarter time speech. One of the more passionate speeches heard, delivered in one of the highest octaves heard for a while. He sounded like Tattoo for a moment there ;-) (except there was no plane - although no doubt if one had flown over, that would also have been a contributing factor in the Sturt loss)

From what I heard , The Grog Squad went from hanging and burning of the body to petitioning the Vatican for Jars sainthood.
