REB,

Just out of curiosity what does a Grand Final played 28 years ago have to do with this thread :?:

If you'd like to debate the merits of Norwood's 1 point victory feel free to do so either here or on the new footysa forum.

I'm only too pleased to discuss the 2002 Preliminary Final with you or any Norwood supporters anytime :)

I actually would like to go further back where I saw my team win 5 flags in row, did you the see 78 champs do that by any chance?

Just on the 2002 prelim final I know we killed nord but we hammered them twice I believe during that finals series. Those training runs kept us fresh for the GF.
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

NO!!, You should apologise to us, the Glenelg fans, for associating us with "supporters" like REB!!!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

North thrash Double Blues

Postby sturtpeter » Tue Mar 14, 2006 10:32 pm

Sturt1, I too was privileged to see three out of the five we won in a row. Illness as a kid stopped me from attending the others.

I think REB is a guy who just loves seeing the SFC fail.

I have never seen him post 1 positive about the Club we love.

On the contrary I have been more than gracious to Norwood on both this site and footysa.com

Insecurity often leads to some stupid remarks and I'm afraid once again old REB has turned a North v Sturt trial into an opportunity for him to post his hatred of our Proud Club.

sorry to the Glenelg fans too and any other Norwood (nord) fans but I agree about REB. I too congradulate opposition clubs on positive things that happen to them and dont have a go until they start on us. The SANFL is the best comp in the world.

You sure did Strutty. There was a lot of positive vibes about the Legs that season and I went to the Parade for that round 1 match with high hopes. Even though I drank a flamin skinful that night the heavy loss was a sobering experience! For the record, I was cheering on the Double Blues that day in 2002, even though they tore us a new one that season.

5 flags in a row? I'd be in the Guiness Book of World records if I could honestly say I'd seen my team do that but we did win 9 flags in twelve years and my great great great grandfather watched every game after riding his horse and buggy from far off Burnside to view that fantastic era LOL.

Insecure about Sturt?? Pfft. 1 flag in the last 25 years?? It is the arrogance that makes me go fishing and yes, I scored many bites with the standard 1978 line. And I have posted many positive things about Sturt over the years, especially my admiration for champion players such as Bagshaw, Davies and Graham. The reason I talk about 78 so often is because I still can't believe that the Legs won against a side with so many champion players. I think I'm not alone regarding 'stupid remarks' ..but better to be stupid than to be arrogant without cause. The 60's were a long time ago and as such any 'hatred' I have for any club is always reserved for Port Adelaide and increasingly Centrals. In any event, the 'hatred' you speak of is really only jealousy because my club hasn't been consistent flag winners in my lifetime.

Cheers,

REB

With all due respect lads (SP and Sturt1), I reckon ya just gotta pick when guys are chucking a "tongue-in-cheek" barb your way ... Pretty much every club can have selective memory toward another, so just have a laugh and keep the banter rolling!! :D

Yes, it was only a trial game, but my main point is that 1978 Nwd v Sturt had nothing to do with it.
