I am looking forward to next year hopefully a fresh start and no more wooden spoons for my life time. I am hoping we get someone like Chris Bond.

The only problem with getting a coach from interstate is that they may just be looking for a launching pad for an AFL Senior Coach position. I'm not saying they can't turn around a teams fortunes in a year or two, but that's a scenario that West will need to look at - do they want a coach that could be there for 5 years, or possibly just one or two.

I thought all coaching applicants are putting their hand up to be noticed for a senior AFL job - it is where the money is. The only alternative is to get on a footy show or become a celebrity MP. How else does one maintain one's expensive drug habits once one is no longer playing?

There are 2 others and perhaps a third person in the equation ?

Mal - I have a very strong idea who you are referring to, and if that is correct, it is a bit out. The person I think you mean has already accepted a coaching position elsewhere for 2008, but yes, is not going to be at their present club in 2007.

You are also correct, however, that none of the main contenders have been mentioned here - apart from 1. The main contenders, as I understand, are from interstate and have previous solid experience, but have youth on their side also. There is 1 in the mix already mentioned here, however.

I feel we should either get Chris Bond or a senior coach from the VFL is anyone is out of contract. There are a few top coaches in the VFL at the moment. Leigh Tudor, Andy Collins, Simon Atkins anyone of those three will do and Matthew Knights i will pass on.

Appointing your CEO as coach is quite a weird thing to do Thiele!
