What a great day for finals footy!

Postby Aerie » Sat Sep 15, 2007 6:22 pm

Saturday afternoon in September! Doesn't get any better than this! The lawns are mowed and the sun is shining! Where's the football!?

Agreed Aerie. Beautiful day and no footy. Damn what a shame. Some common sense needs to be taken into account when programming the finals. No AFL in town this weekend and the only AFL game on is a night fixture, to me it would have made complete sense to play the Elimination-Qualifying double header on Saturday afternoon. It makes no sense to still keep the Sunday fixture in place.

that would dis-advantage glenelg
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

Its absolutely ridiculous.
After the SANFL spend year in year out rehashing old ideas to get bigger crowds the finals are an absolute no brainer to get more interest.
AFL finals are usually on at nights these days, its so simple you honestly have to wonder how stupid they are.

1st week of finals - Play Saturday Afternoon (ie today)
2nd week of finals - Play Saturday Afternoon
3rd week of finals - Prelim, play on Friday night at Adelaide Oval, ideal lead up to the AFL GF the following day as opposed to being the day after when everyone has hangovers
4th week of finals - play GF on Saturday (one team has 8 day break, other has 14 day break)

With that program they'd get a total of up to possibly 20k more than they do now.

Div 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 amateur GF's, Div 1 prelim.

I would much rather wathc Salisbury win a Div 4 premiership than a SANFL Qualifiying/Elimination final.

Well done SANFL on programming your finals on Sunday afternoon.

Last thing most people wanted to do todat was go to SANFL.

Has anyone not heard that Salisbury won today? Spanked Para Hills by 12 goals in the GF. Great work!

Fair point. Has been a few years since I was involved with amateur league and have lost track. Happy to leave a Saturday afternoon to them to complete their Grand Finals.

I actually went to show yesterday and thought of how great it would be to have this weeks finals at Wayville. Great oval/grandstands.
