Sturt Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of former NT Thunder player Sam Smith.

Sam is a 23 year old athletic centre half back, with demonstrated ability to play in many key positions. He was awarded NT Thunder’s Most Courageous Players in 2018 and finished top three in their Best and Fairest Medal 2017 and 2018.

Senior Coach Nathan Grima said, “With retirements to Fraser and Jack we were keen to add a ready-made key defender to our group to work with young guys coming through our program. Sam has a great work ethic with intercept marking being a real strength. I am confident he will slot into our backline and make a big impact.”

No, not anymore.

Was considering it, but changed his mind, now.

Enjoyed country footy, playing with his brother and winning a flag too much.

Former Glenelg player Elliot Chalmers appears to be out doing a Pre Season with North Adelaide.

Roosters have also secured former Central Reserves coach and NT Thunder (NEAFL) senior coach Darren Reeves as their Seconds Coach.

Reeva will also be a part time Development Officer, taking over this role and the Reserves coaching from Jacob Surjan.

A good get for the Roosters and many Dogs players spoke highly of Darren, who forms strong relationships quickly.

Had he not got the NT Thunder job, that fell over after 1 year of a 2 year deal, he could have got the Dogs senior gig.

I guess Central's loss is North Adelaide's gain.

The decision to leave was Andrew's alone, after 10 years.
Good to see so many positive comments on the Club's Facebook site about him.
What many may not know is the time and care he gave to players, staff and even supporters over the years.
Premiership winning coach and Premiership winning football manager amongst many other fine achievements with the West Adelaide Football Club!

Good player but not what we need atm.

We have a few Hanna types Barreau East Gillard etc....

Butcher returning in a coaching role ??
