Can relate Aerie.

Funnily enough I found BigFooty through the CDFC forum. Someone said "have a look at what these pricks are saying about our club".

Then, just as my interest in BF was waning, I found SA Footy on the CDFC forum when someone said "have a look at what these pricks are saying about our club".
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Great list (and I'm not just saying that because yours truly is in there), but PhilH should be in there. As you said though, the list is subjective, and I think that others should have a bash at a top 20 as well.

And as for the colourful characters, you cannot go past the Peabody Clan!

As for railcarRobbo - BOOOOM!

Nevstradamus, a gun at footy tipping - kept tipping the dogs to lose from about round 10 onwards - they never lost a game until the next season.

LOL nev was extremely good value

I think it was last year he tipped against the Dogs every week, and generally he was adamant Centrals wouldnt win the flag and ultimately he was proven right

Websites like FootySA and BigFooty were relative newcomers to SANFL discussion. For years the only footy news to be had was on the usenet forums rec.sport.football.australian and aus.sport.aussie-rules. The traffic on these newsgroups was predominantly AFL related but there was a small bastion of SANFL support. Unfortunately much of the SANFL stuff from the mid-nineties onwards was fuelled by Port bandwagonners whose interest in the Magpies only extended as far as the forthcoming AFL team. By the late nineties any attempt at SANFL discussion - serious or otherwise - was lost in the noise.

There were maybe half a dozen Sturt fans lurking around the group in the early-mid nineties, certainly more than for any other team. Curious, given Sturt's performances during that era.

From that time, the only names I see here now are Barto (who if I am not mistaken ran a Sturt fan website in the early days of the web), and Macca (whom I think appeared about the time I moved on).

Those days were kinda fun, but the online SANFL community of today is much, much better.

I was always of the understanding that VV was a "she" - at least the emails I received at the time from this poster were from a female.

Also, Biggs has been left off these lists - I would have thought he had as much to do with FootySA as the 3 others.

Takes me back to the days of anonymous posting on FootySA, there were some outlandish statements on that at times, bloody hilarious to join in with.
