Hang on, did you not just jump on a germ infested plane to go to Tassie, assuming with your very young family in tow?

I won't judge if you bring me back fudge though ;) 8)

That is the dumb part of it, how the hell would he know that the person he stood behind at the checkout hadn't just got back from Iran?

Agreed and he's a bar tender so has been serving umpteen amount of people touching their used glasses not having a clue where they've been or who they've come into contact with.

All world leaders need to just shut down the world for 4-5 weeks.

Everything, except emergency services, military (to help enforce) and supermarket staff to process online orders only (no stores open)

Just shut it down and after the 4-5 week period is over and it's all gone, go back to business as usual

As much as i think a lot of this situation is madness i 100% agree with you. Just lock us all down and get it over and done with ffs.

I cant understand why we are taking these baby steps when we know what point we are going to end at. One theory i hear though is that we are currently in a position where the government is giving everyone a chance to get home in preparation for the 'lockdown'. That i suppose makes a bit of sense to me.

Ok so if we were to lockdown completely at what point would it be ok to open up Australia and start letting people come in? Then if we have another outbreak do we lockdown again?
Do we need infection to build immunity?
I dont have the answers, just posing the question

I agree with all this mate but i have come to terms with the fact we are inevitably going to be locked down.

Agree at how do they come to a conclusion at what number of infected people is 'ok' especially when you take into account soonish there will be the common cold/flu getting around as well.

I feel like to the lockdown will be the 'final' act. They cant keep everyone locked down for 3,6,12 months. If a two week or month lockdown doesn't work we will have to just live life knowing this is a risk. At least we will have some closure on this though.

are we better off just letting it run it's course and get it out of the way? I know it will take a toll on health system but just get it done and not let it drag out.

I reckon that's where we'll be heading as a school too.

If schools close we might as well lock down everything except essential services.

yep, my kids are to young to stay home alone, and it would be increasing risk for my parents if i offloaded them there, so id have to stay home with them (the wife works in a hospital so i doubt she could take the time off). id say there would be a huge number of people in the same boat.

The toll on the health system is what will spike fatalities, otherwise maybe. Italy has recorded 368 Covid deaths in 24 hours according to an article I read about an hour ago

Initially like last week that was my thoughts too. The health system just won’t cope, literally the doctors would have to decide who lives and who dies. That’s the reason they are trying to slow it down.

As they're doing in northern Italy right now and it's an easy decision. Anyone over 85 isn't going into intensive care, they aren't "wasting" a bed on them.

Slowing it down, now there's another idea, why didn't the experts think of that?

1 in 2 Australians will be diagnosed with cancer before they turn 85. Might as well get it now and get it over and done with.

Rumour on the street (overheard in the cafe at lunch) is that ScoMo is about to announce a 72-hour nationwide lockdown.

I'll believe it when I hear it on the news.
