You'll be a shoe-in for the finals at the Ark on October 14 Diss, hope to be able to join ya there, one more placing could well do it for me! [-o<

BTW, anyone here play on PokerStars online ... If so, what is your username? (Im OzzieJase ... Yes I know, very corny and sinmple).

I lost the last hand with A7 against 8 5 diamonds... rivered a third diamond and got the flush.

Is the state final at the Ark as well?

Bad beat yeah but I was lucky to get to second :)

When there were 6 left, I raised the $10k BB to $20k. I had about $40k in total. Another one folded and another guy went all in. Everyone else folded so it was up to me. I thought, why not. All in.

I had QQ and he had AA.

I rivered a queen.

No way, he would be shattered ... I got done at the Casino on Saturday after flopping a K high flush ... Put the feelers out and got the investments I needed only to find one of the blokes flopped a Straight Flush! :?

That's bad!!!

At the Modbury last week one hand had four of a kind, a full house, and a flush.
The flush guy thought he had it made!

Tried that recently but didn't like it as much as MSN 'Bicycle' TH Poker - does anyone here play that?

Came third in my first go at NPL the other night. Was quite happy. One thing though, do all the venues have a drink-up-for-free-credits rule like they did the other night? Call me naive but I was a bit shocked when you'd get 500 credits when you bought a drink at various times during the night. Not only did it severely compromise the game (two absolute pissheads were the last ones standing - no wonder!), but isn't it kinda socially irresponsible to openly reward heavy drinking like that I would have thought. I know the pub has to make money but geez, Nick Xenophon and his offsider would have a field day with that...

No, you can't just keep drinking to get chips.
Last season (ie just finished) you got two drink cards. Four squares on each. Each card, when full, got you $500 extra in chips.

Have to remember the pubs PAY to host the NPl tournaments.

They pay $300 plus $3 per person, I think.
So $600 up front.

The idea is more people in, meals, alcohol, pokies et al ..

For the record, I ended up 5th at the Modbury so I'm in the state finals. Mate of mine who is third (or maybe even second) at the modbury now, won two tournaments in 3 days! One at the Windsor last Friday night and one at Roulettes (with 110 people I think) on Sunday.

I'm just happy to be in the state final and the srkaba satelitte!

I'll be at the State Finals and the Aussie Millions Satellite too. Actually got 2 tickets to the Millions Satellite... won twice in 4 days (but back to back tournaments for me)

Aussie Millions Satellite is at the ARK... ugh.. nice drive for me... 9.30 start for me
State Finals at the Woodcroft Hotel... ugh.. another nice drive... and another 9.30 start

Missed out on State top 50 by about 0.5 point too.... shouldn't have played my last game which dropped my average slightly.

Cya's there!!

They've changed the drink card this season too.

1 card = 1000 in chips

However you can only cash in your cards when you have 1000 chips or less.

Basically they are trying to get you to fill your cards before the beginning of the tournament.

Also makes people who dont usually use the cards have a huge disadvantage. Usually it was a 1000 chip to 2000 chips disadvantage. But now it will be a 1000 to 3000 one. Will make more people use the drink cards.

More prizes this year. Weekly tournament winners will go into a weekly freeroll (approx 100 players) to play off for a seat for a tournament at the casino which is worth $3000. Prize money for the tournament is around $300,000.

Shame I donked out in 6th last night!

Cya's at the tables.

As far as I know... it's the winner thats gets the 10k buy-in to the Aussie Millions (Arkaba on the Saturday) ... definately not the top 8.

As for State Finals (Woodcroft Hotel on the Sunday)... the winner gets a buy in to a "Major International Tournament"
2nd - 8th get a buy in to the Victorian Poker Championships ($150,000 prize pool)

Where do you play Westsider?
I am at the Modbury every week, as well as occasionally at Roulettes, the Gully, Blue Gums and the Windsor.

I'll see you there - I'm in both as well. Early start for me also (As well as a long drive to Woodcroft)

You can actually cash in your poker passports if you crash out as a rebuy this season.
Also you can cash them in at the first break, regardless of your chips so there' sno need to do it all at the same time.

Westsider - Doesn't matter about your average anyway if you're top 5! So that's good for you too.

Yeh definately safe... still wouldnt have minded to crack the top 50 though.

I play mostly North West area games.
Bartley Tavern (Semaphore Pk) on Monday
Semaphore Palais on Tuesday
Crows Tavern on Wednesday.

Main 2 are the Bartley and Palais though. With only 12 weeks this season people will have to play twice a week plus another game just to get to 25 games to qualify.
