I think they did quite well in the lower house as far as swings go but failed to pick up a seat and went slightly backwards in the upper house and got a quotient of .6 which I dont think is enough to get them a gig which is one of the few good news stories out of the night. They remind me of some of the sects in Utah.

Here's some figures from the Upper house (the first figures is the amount of votes):

Family First Party 17726 quotient 0.6
Labor Party 132953 quotient 4.6
Liberal Party 88037 25.2 quotient 3.0
Nick Xenophon's No Pokies 71045 quotient 2.4
Australian Democrats 5779 quotient 0.2

Time for the Democrats to roll over and die meez feelz.

So who did you vote for then, Wedgie, I'll come clean and say I voted for Labor, but you wouldn't have voted for the Shooters Party or the Recreational Fishers by any chance? Surely not SaveBabe.com! :)

There's at least one thing good you can say about the ALP - they kept the Nuclear Waste Dump out of our State!

Sorry MK, only if you want to move interstate or overseas.

As McAlmanac pointed out, the u went from labor in the early 1912, and SA dropped the u in Harbour in the 70's, hardly new things, perhaps we could be considered forward thinking as we were when we gave women the vote........., or perhaps that was just wrong too.

I'm rapt with the result after spending countless hours in the leadup helping out my local member and all day Saturday handing out how-to-vote cards and Saturday night scrutineering at the same booth.

The result was unexpected, at least in our electorate. The swing exceeded our wildest dreams. Gotta wonder who the the local rag "Polled" in the lead up. Must have been Unley.

Just hope that Family First die a quick death now-just One Nation reincarnated if you ask me. Their "helper" at our booth was an absolute tool, bagging anyone and everyone that didn't vote for FFP. Yeah, that's really "christian" of you pal.

Oh, and farewell Peter Lewis AT LAST! Would rather Nick X x2 anyday over that idiot!

Au contraire, they should have welcomed the dump with open arms - and a very large price tag. Much of this state is barren wasteland. Why not use it to bury some waste and earn some money?

Absolutely right Pseudo :D We are still paying the price od Dunstan/Bannon years with trafic congestion due to the short sightedness of these two selling of the land purchased for the North/South corridors. Very short sighted for short term electoral gain. Now we have the idiotic scenario of trams down King William St.

At least you guys got to vote, I was in hospital & missed out... I thought they came around & took your vote?
Wedgie, I'd describe myself as a swinging voter- I've voted for both parties at both State & Federal level, depends on what they have on offer at the time.

I read in today's paper that the Liberals have only won 3 out of the last 9 state elections. Which made me think a bit and come up with a theory - all things being equal, Labor generally wins, but when theres something like the State Bank disaster the Libs win. And maybe this could be applied to federal politics as well to a lesser extent - if the ALP had a decent leader at federal level they prob would have won the last couple of elections but with Latham and Beazley, its a breeze for Little Johnny to get through!!

That's the scary part about it, Labor stuff up they get chucked out. When the Libs clean up Labors mess as well as making a few things happen in this state they get chucked out.
If Labor don't stuff up they stay in.

Ironically I'd probably be better off if the federal and state governments were reversed.

No fguckn way. The federal Government controls the economy if Keating had stayed in we would be a banana republic for sure. As much as I despise Rann he is an economic conservative, I can live with a state labor government, but Labor would fcku up the big gig. I personally think the new IR laws are un-Australian, but not important enough to give government to Labor economic :D incompetants :?
