absolute ripper day. Well done Dogs, loved at the end of the game when the players came over to the crowd behind the goals. It's unusaul to see our players do that in any game other than the grandy but it showed how much the win meant.

Also thanks Sam_UDogs for introuducing me to the world of the Coopers Pale House, that schnitzel was awesome a pitty about the crazy crazy taxi driver who tried to abduct me.

Dogwatcher, nothing real interesting just a bit weird, 4 of us caught taxi from hindley street to coopers pale house. I sat in the front. The driver was acting real strange as it was but when we arrived the 3 friends in the back got out. I tried to open my door and it was locked, i asked him to unlock it then for the next 15-20 seconds hey stared at me while laughing and saying AUSSIE BOY AUSSIE BOY. It wasn't until i threatend to resort to violence he unlocked the door. It was like something out of those hidden camera shows a bit scary though.

Thought the Dogs fans behind the goals were great today especially in the last quarter. Everyone was going off and singing in unison. Made the roosters supporters and their attempts at chanting seem very second-rate. The dogs army really got the guys home today, as evident by the players coming over to the northern end after the game. Cmon Rooster fans you try and sprout how your supporters are the original U reds chanters you were outclassed today it's time you lift your game.

I honestly couldn't hear any Central noise from the hill. Could only hear the noise from the North supporters. I suppose it depended where you were standing especially with that breeze. My missus was down the front and said she couldn't hear either group. Probably sounded loud at the parade grounds though.

When at the bar to get a drink you couln't even tell when the Dogs goaled as it was so quiet. Certainly knew when North scored as the hill erupted.

I can't vouch for at the ground - but I could certainly hear the Dogs chant on the tv.

It seemed that like the players, the supporters took a while to warm up. But once the chant was rolling it sounded good.

I could also hear the North chants at various points. But it certainly didn't sound as loud as the Doggies.

But then again, I would say that.

That would make sense with the North crowd being in the furthest pocket away from FX mikes with the wind in our faces.

When I was out on the ground it seemed quiet when both teams ran out due to most support being in the outer and the wind blowing SW.

It took the dogs a little while to find their feet but not as long as I had feared pre-game. The dogs seemed to be keeping up with North for the first half, almost waiting for the inevitable tiring that was to come. 2 comebacks in the last 2 weeks plus a warmer day yesterday plus North playing their 7th (?) game in a row were all going to contribute to a big hurdle for North to get over – their chance to win the game was in the first quarter by blowing us away.

The usual suspects stood up when it counted; Callinan, Symes, Thomas, Schell et al. Ware seemed to cruise for a while, going for 3 separate one-handed marks and spilling the lot of them – hopefully he doesn’t make this mistake again. Lawrie was soundly beaten, his first disappointment of the season I would think, nothing went his way – can’t see it happening again, he’ll be fired up from that one.

Umpiring was disappointing, particularly in the first half – some bewildering decisions either made or not made. Can anyone clarify this for me (after debating it ad-nauseum yesterday) – does a player need to enter the goal square prior to a kick in after a behind, or can they kick the ball in from behind the goal square?

It was a good game, if only North had taken their opportunities in the second quarter then the result would have been different. 10 minutes to go in the third quarter was when i thought Central had the match.

As for the umpiring i thought it was of good standard and from a neutrals point of view North were slightly favoured but not enough to influence the result.

The worst decision was Norths first goal? In the back in the goal square. I thought Gowans was going to have a cow it was that soft, apart from that a good hard even contest.

Smac - I too was wondering if you had to actually be in the goal square to kick out from a behind.

I think, and someone will tell me if I'm wrong, that the only way to dispose of the ball from outside of the oval at a stoppage (mark, free kick or kick out) is to kick the ball (as the player did from behind the line). A hand ball or, in the case of a kick out, kicking to oneself to play on is illegal.

That free kick for the North goal was bewildering. As was the one where a North player took a Dogs players legs out, resulting in them landing in his back which resulted in a shot on goal.
That second example is probably a free by the rule book, but....

Ah, hadn't thought of that DW - had only considered entering the square first as an option.

Hope you are enjoying your new location, steer clear of the back room. A little dodgy back there.
