North did beat centrals quite convincingly late in the season.

I can't see North beating the Dogs.
They were rusty early on but got better as the match went on and will be better for that run, also we have stuff all experience at Footy Park, we'd had 2 games in a row at Adelaide Oval in the runup to the Dogs game where they hadn't played there since last year.
North will continue to get more tired and pick up more injuries where the Dogs are sitting pretty.
Eagles are probably more hardened to playing 4 tough games in a row so might get slightly closer, who knows, who cares, its all hypothetical.
Neither will get close to the Dogs IMHO.
Mind you I said something similar in 2003 and 2006.

Wedgie, both teams are pretty much in the same position re injuries, energy spent, etc. Eagles are just getting through, but back-up stocks are fairly thin in terms of amount of games played this year, eg Paul Stewart, Inkster, etc.

Greatest worry is that it will be like 2004 and whichever team wins will have to put so much on the line this week that there are bound to be a couple of players who the clubs may have to gamble with the next week.

I voted Eagles, but it was really a toss of the coin and perhaps with the Eagles being good enough at the big dance last year will mean that they will provide more clout than North will be able to at the GF. But I agree with Flying High, that whoever wins is going to be so battle scarred and exhausted that the Dogs will win it easily. Sort of like poor old Harold at Hastings after he had to defeat the Vikings at York then race the length of England to fight against William and his frogs, too much to ask of a single force.
That aside, I think that the Dogs are more primed than ever before, and regardless of what sort of lead-up either North or the Eagles have, it will be over by half time with the Dogs reaching full pace for the first time this year. Winning grand finals is what the Dogs are all about these days, and if last year was their rebuilding year, then there must be a heavy, fast paced, eagerly skilled juggernaut waiting to tear apart whoever dares stand against them on grand final day. It could be very embarrassing. It may even be more honourable to quietly bow out this weekend than receive whatever hammering the Dogs will dish up in the wake of last year's loss.
Good luck to both sides, you are going to need it.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

I agree with what you are saying wedgie.

I think the dogs have got over their mental hurdle, the 3 week gap between games was always going to be a real test.

But I wouldn't write anyone off just yet, as you say 02 (I assume that's what you meant) was an upset. 06 not so much, the eagles were a far better side all year, we played our two best games of the year in the qualifying and 2nd semi finals and had nothing left by the time the GF came around.

North and the Eagles have both been playing a long time without a bye - that's the dogs biggest advantage now.

I am with Wedgie on this one. North getting to many injuries and are starting to look tired and flat. Haven't seen much of the Eagles so hard to comment, but from memory I think they have 3 or 4 class players about ready to come back into the side. They could well make a difference. as for the dogs, all class, to professional, would probably even match it with a few AFL sides.

Not this rubbish again. They wouldn't get close to an AFL side.
