yep, you have to love these ir laws. AWA's were the greatest thing ever invented.
I was put on an awa recently, it stipulated that I work 7.30- 4.00 , mon- fri, that is what my salary is based on. At last count I am working from 7-6 ,mon-fri and still being paid for 7.30- 4.00. I could do what my former workmate did and complain, but as you may have guessed he is no longer with us.....
How the hell can a young couple enter a mortgage with sort of insecurity.

I have recently signed up on an AWA and let me tell you with all of the negative things I had heard about them I was a bit worried. However I, and many of my coworkers, have managed to negotiate with my employer a much better deal than I was previously on under any award. He could not afford to lose any of us and came to the party.

You are obviously not an 18 year old in his or her first job then are you. They will be the main ones getting screwed by this.

Yeah, but the average 18 year old isn't very focussed and productive at work, though there are exceptions. I always try to only hire people over 30.

What sort of business do you run psyber?

I am a partner in a small IT firm in Melbourne, and also involved in psychological assessment and legal reporting services, the second being my major activity. The IT stuff is just something totally different to help keep me sane, and I took it up after I sold the farm I had in SA, before moving to Melbourne! [My wife and I also ran an Art & Craft gallery for a couple of years.]

However, I plan to quit both in the New Year and do some part-time [and well-paid] consulting work in the UK while I tour Europe for a year or two.
