Last year, North couldn't possibly have played better in the 2SF and the Eagles couldn't have played much worse. You only need a bit if a reversion to the mean two weeks later and it's a totally different story. One quarter of the Eagles playing their best and it was all over.
There's every chance Glenelg could do this year what the Eagles did last year.
i couldn't agree more about last year's Second Semi Final. The aberration wasn't the Grand Final but rather the Second Semi. In the second quarter of the Second Semi, the Eagles dominated but scored about 5 behinds in a row, North went down once and goaled. Then the rains came.
In the Grand Final the Eagles absolutely dominated the second quarter again but kicked some brilliant goals.
I actually thought North were only the third last year but winning a number of close games and the short season allowed North to play off.
This year with Partington back in the side, I still fancy Glenelg to go top.
And this isn't meant to be a criticism of only Glenelg but why do sides only "take the game on" when they are well behind. I have seen both Glenelg's games against Norwood and also Saturday nights game and once they changed their game style the game changed completely.
