One bloke asked for my opinion and I said "It's no Parson's Paddock but it goes down alright"

He knew of the 6 pack deals for the PP.

How mental health can change for no reason. Everything is going well, then you feel it coming on and you just think to yourself “Why? There’s no reason for this”. You then get a few less than fun days and as quick as it came, it goes. A completely irrational thing.

pearler of a weekend, partially ruined by one incident, that i wish i handled differently.

driving the Chev saturday morning. developed a bit of a vibration that seemed speed dependent. pulled over, checked all the wheel nuts (i had the wheels off not long ago so thought it may just be that) nope, all tight.

slowed down and got to my destination. climbed under and checked for missing wheel weights, nope, all seemed to be there...

after a couple of hours, left to come home. vibration seemed worse, but what can i do? i have to get it home right? its only a 20 minute drive. continue on at a further reduced speed, about 65-70 in a hundred zone. i can nurse this, it will be fine. i should have pulled over and got it towed... frigging idiot.

front left tyre went bang. interesting experience, i havent had a tyre blowout before. went about as well as these things can. didnt lose control. only weaved around a little (thankfully i had slowed down from the speed limit) managed to get her stopped and off the road ok. problem is now the front left guard is looking a bit worse for wear. rubber marks all over it, paints chipped in a few places, reckon its dented too. sigh. why am i such an idiot?

It's a scary thing that a lot of people don't understand, especially when you get asked "what's wrong?" and the answer of "nothing" is never accepted by the questioner even though it is legitimately the correct answer.

Hang in there mate.

I had this happen to me when I was on my P's driving my TE Gemini (I know right...wish I had it now) straight after getting new tyres...literally 2 minutes down the road and bang, into the gutter. Fair to say the conversation with said tyre place was not pleasant.

Ouch! So was it a bubble in the tyre? Were the tyres old?

That's horrible to hear bud, I hope it can be buffed out and easily fixed up.

yeah, i assume the vibration was the tyre starting to delaminate. not sure on the age of the tyres, but i assume they are just old (i couldnt find a date code on them...), they all have plenty of tread, and arent cracked or anything, but ill be replacing all 4 now just in case. not going to risk it happening again.

i sent a couple of photos to a mate, and unfortunately it looks like time to take it to a professional. i reckon its more than just buffing will accomplish. so im going through the process of getting the insurance company involved, i realise they wont cover the tyre, but hopefully repairing and repainting the guard is covered.

it will be the first time in decades ive made an insurance claim, about time i get something back from it (hopefully)

I had an almost new Dunlop tyre do that on me many years ago on a Range Rover - I'd recently bought two new tyres for the front wheels as the back ones where fairly good still.

The dealership replaced the one that packed it in, but that was the limit, and would only replace it with another Dunlop. I put them on the back and when I replaced the other two went with another brand. I've never bought a Dunlop tyre since...

I was sitting reading when Mrs Jimmy started watching the Block last night.
She proceeded to tell me everything about the contestants
I gave her the DILLIGAF look
It was a bit chilly from there on.
Funny how they always try to get you involved in their shows
