He is 24 yrs old and has played SANFL this year, so doesn't meet SANFL's recently adjusted rules to be on PA's supplementary list, so he'd have to be drafted by them.

Rookie listed I'd say.

Sam Skinner joins Port Adelaide.

The South Adelaide Football Club congratulates Sam Skinner on receiving another AFL opportunity after being selected as a delisted free agent by Port Adelaide Football Club.

Sam joined the Panthers in 2021 playing 21 League matches and enjoying a stellar season that saw him become one of the best intercept marks of the competition.

After starting the season in attack, Skinner moved to defence in the second half of the season and finished the season in dominant fashion.

A stand out performance in the SANFL semi-final against Norwood, where he collected 21 possessions and took 13 intercept marks, was a highlight.

South Adelaide Coach Jarrad Wright said Sam’s selection was not unexpected.

“From the first day Sam arrived at South Adelaide he has genuinely embraced the football club. We got progressively more aware as the season wore on that Sam’s strong form in defence might see him return to the AFL. His finals’ performance sealed his fate.

“The positive is that Sam joins a growing list of mature age players that have received another shot at the AFL on the back of strong form at the Panthers. Another is that Sam leaves us in November and not March.”

The Football Club thanks Sam and fiancé Charlotte for their commitment over the 2021 season and wish them all the best for the future.

Plenty of players in the AFL system aren’t but are on list.
His work ethic is questionable and is probably why he won’t make it anyway.

That's about 10 or 11 first choice players gone now, going to struggle next season.
How does Skinner qualify as a delisted free agent when he played for South in 2021? Surely Port have to wait until the draft to select him?

It would be good if someone could make a list of all players that have left their respective SANFL clubs so far.

Yep, bit of a worry for our club next year.

Hopefully we pick up a few more quality recruits (just not too good ones)
Is out of change.....thanks Cambridge Clarrie!!!

Similar to the Eagles with Stengle, they were basically only going to play one year.

Jake Tarca, 21yo..

2020- With Geelong in the AFL
2021- With South in the SANFL
2022- Playing local footy

You can understand to an extent the 26-28yos who are departing the league, but when guys in their early 20s are looking at playing elsewhere at a lower standard that's disappointing/concerning.
