Not sure where to post this.

Things that make you laugh - all those that don't understand the concept.
I need to know - how many people don't understand this.
Weather thread - it is about rainfall after all.
ATCA - cricket discussions are where you see the lack of understanding come through.

Anyway, I'll chuck it up here as a bit of an FYI for those that don't know (although I assume most people don't care either).

When people look at the weather apps and see the following:
80% - 2mm to 8mm.
Do they understand that doesn't mean there is an 80% chance we will get between 2 and 8mm?

Cause that isn't what it means.

They are actually three different stats.

80% is the chance of any measurable rainfall, ie: 0.2mm or more.
2mm is the expected amount of rainfall. IE: There is a 50:50 chance we get at least 2mm.
8mm is the upper quartile. There is a 25% chance we get 8mm or more.

I wasn't 100% sure on how it all works but either way there is going to be more rain to come tomorrow and cricket is going to be ****** again.

40mm at Kainton which has put a big pause on harvest. Hopefully it dries out quickly and we don’t get much downgrading of our grain. A rain like that would have been handy 8-12 weeks ago but that’s farming.

The glass half full part is I have the partners work show tonight at one of Clare's finest wineries. To make it even better is she works at a medical clinic and the doctors spare no cash when it comes to the free alcohol. Free bus to and from winery, free 3 course meal, free alcohol from 7pm-12pm.

Now if it continues to bucket down I can spend tomorrow with my head in a bucket instead of chasing a stupid red ball around.

Yeah at O'Leary Walkers which is an absolute sensational winery and includes Clare Valley Brewing on tap which will be nice once im wined out.

TBH her workplace has one of the best workplace/staff cultures ive ever witnessed. It's no wonder over half of their 50 staff members have been there borderline 10 years, plus there isn't many other jobs in Clare haha.

We played, we lost, I bowled like shit, batted well and may have broken my wrists from slipping whilst running between wickets.

It was stupid that we played. The lack of official umpire shows up on those kind of days..... we shouldn't have started when we did, should have went off on numerous occasions but the bowling side who were on top didn't want to go off and we didn't want to look like sooks. Would have been a good game of cricket otherwise.

La Nina has officially formed.

What does that mean? Basically rain fall above average in the North, East and Centre of Australia, cooler than average day time temps and the chance of more tropical cyclones.
