Its looking increasingly likely Warner is out of the Adelaide test with Khawaja to come in and open. Its almost a certainty Khawaja will out bat Harris.
This will then leave the selectors with all but no choice to go with two 35 year olds as the opening pair and not really any other opener in the country with test match experience, thinking a line will be drawn through Harris if he fails again, Renshaw doesn't even open these days, Burns 32 year old had a few failed opportunities.
Should the selectors be trying to get a Street or Hunt in the side so we avoid inevitably having two brand new openers in a couple of years.
I’d still pick Renshaw to open.
Not concerned that its a pretty big step from batting middle order in the shield to facing the first ball at test level. His been pretty well protected by Street, Labuschange, Khawaja this year.
Looking on the CA app make of this what you will if anything at all, his been pretty well protected by Street, Burns, Khawaja, Labuschangne. Two highest scores being the two latest times his come in and the two lowest scores being the two earliest times his come in.
Also not sure how you could pick Renshaw when his state selectors don't even think his the better opener in the state and they look to have got it pretty right with the way Street has performed, being arguably the premier opener in the shield.
vs SA: come in at 81st over, scored 10

vs Tas come in at 44th over scored 11.
