If not cricket in SAF is in a real bad way, biggest test of the year, tiny crowd, team that is struggling. They seem to be going backwards at rapid knots.
Yeah, I wondered the same, and came across found an article, saying they have actually shut out crowds for the series, but some certain % of corporate suites or whatever can attend so the Board can meet their contractual obligations. Article and decision was only a few days out from the Test IIRC

That's good to hear, SAF in a mess is not good for test cricket..the way I read Test cricket globally is:
Aus- still going strong, if it wasn't for covid crowds would be as good as ever.
Ind- test cricket at an all time high, team is great and the public love the game.
Eng- team is doing shit but there still is support for test cricket Their board is definitely looking to make more money though from other avenues
NZ- going real well, all time high for this country, the game is growing each year.
Pak- test cricket being played in Pakistan can only be a good thing for them, now need a test team to perform on the pitch, sleeping giant as always.
WI- dead, dead dead
SL- poor team, poor crowds, on the cusp of going back to their dark days.
BANG- growing sport but now need the team to improve to take it to the next level.
ZIM- dead, dead, dead
IRE- has the potential but needs the ICC to get behind them and start getting them some decent test series.
AFG- sadly they only look to be going backwards after showing so much promise, much bigger issues their though.

A tad hard given the lack of cricket some nations have played and the quality that others have played against.

The ESPN Cricinfo Test Team of the Year is almost the same, they have Ollie Robinson instead of Axar Patel.

Re: TDK's International Test Cricket Update's
I've been watching it on and off today, once again a touring side gets sucked into a NZ pitch with a bit of grass on it and send the Kiwis in and now they're 4/247. They've batted quite slowly but I don't think that will matter as NZ should make light work of the Bangers who are without their best player Shakib.locky801 wrote:mighty_tiger_79 wrote:NZ 2/152

No Kane no worries as Conway finishes today with 122, had a great start to his test career.

They commented how the pitch had a lack of grass on it compared to previous matches. The Dark Knight wrote:I've been watching it on and off today, once again a touring side gets sucked into a NZ pitch with a bit of grass on it and send the Kiwis in and now they're 4/247. Which it makes it even more of a bizarre decision by the Bangers to send NZ in.
I would of thought Bangladesh might of looked at the previous result at the Mount and see that's it probably not a great idea to send NZ in. In the 2020 Boxing Day test Pakistan won the toss and sent NZ in and they put on 431 in 155 overs their first innings.
I don't think it matters whether Bangladesh bat first or second though as they're going to be up against facing an attack of Boult, Southee, Jamieson and Wagner.
Devon Conway is the first player to score a century in his first test innings away and at home since Michael Clarke did it in 2004 (151 v India and 141 v NZ).

All out 328. Great fightback by the Bangers.
0/27 in reply. Ball doing plenty. Openers doing a good job.
Only the third ever test at this venue.
