They are exacting revenge for 2 years ago when Victoria scored 710 after Maher sent them in.

It would be great if they could get to 1000.

They might well try it, they dont need a result to win the Cup. So they might as well just bat til there dismissed. But like i said, i cant see then losing the game from here.

I would just like to know why the Gabba pitch is a green top all season so Bichel, Kasper, Johnson etc can bowl teams out twice in 4 days, but the moment they play a final the pitch magically transforms to a slab of concrete? I think the ACB really need to re-consider the future of Pura Cup finals, they are farcical.

Seems like a good idea if your a Queenslander and if there is know law agaisnt it. If SA was hosting the final the Les produced the flattest track you have ever seen i dont think i would be upset.

But you do bring up and interesting point there....

All Qld need is a draw and they win the comp (being that the game is at the Gabba). We needed the tie to win the ING Cup final.

Hawk, whilst your comment has some merit I think it overlooks the fact that the conditions are the same for both sides .. Whilst the Vics batted first and there may have been a little early movement, surely if the pitch is a "Concrete slab" it would have been playing well sometime during the first session onward?

In a Pura Cup final, conditions aren't the same for both teams. One team has to win, the other doesn't. And if you don't think the pitch is like a concerete slab, the score is currently 3/723, the possibility of a score of 1000 is looming. This score could never be made on a normal Gabba pitch which favours seamers in 4 day games. Victoria were 2/230 plus but couldn't afford to make 500 as time would have run out for them.

The difference being that Les tries to prepare the flattest track possible in ALL games, not just finals.

This is bollocks Hawk. The Gabba has been the best deck in the country for the last couple of seasons now. Victoria are more than lucky to be in the final and simply wouldn't be there if the Aussies didn't plunder NSW's attack or if Elliott had stayed fit to stabilise the Redbacks' batting lineup. Remember last year's Pura Cup final was a thrilling one wicket victory and their has been many brilliant finishes to the domestic season to go along with the run fests. You deserve any advantage you have gained after finishing on top of a home and away season of ten matches.

Kasper might have been snaffled to South Africa but Watson has come straight back in while the Vics have lost Warnie and gained (ho ho) Mick '0/113' Lewis. You can't ask more from Hodge as he has scored a ton. No, this game is the result of a determined Bulls outfit against underwhelming opposition and the flogging that was happening now you could see coming months ago. I'm not sure if you can hit a basketball for six. Watson hit 1 six and Perren 5. In all there were 93 fours and 6 sixes.

There were 6 scores of 50 or more, 4 of 100 or more and 2 of 200 or more.

Maher - 223
Stevens - 66
Love - 169
Watson - 201 retired hurt
Perren - 173
Extras - 55

Maher and Stevens put on 157 for the first wicket.
Maher and Love put on 297 for the 2nd wicket.
Including Watson, he, Perren and Bichel put on 347 for the 4th, 329 before Watson retired.
They were on 3/878 at one stage - a staggering total.
900 is the 11th highest first class score ever, and the 4th highest in Australia.
Queenslands' highest ever score, highest ever score against Victoria, Mahers' first class highest score and 5 bowlers went for 100 or more including Mick '0/113' Lewis - 1/156 off 39 overs.

I would like a copy of the entire match on DVD just in case I have trouble sleeping at some time. What an absolute snorefest that was, and hopefully the ACB will take steps to ensure it never happens again.

Also, Qld. broke their 4th wicket record - the 329 is only counted.

You should hear the Banana bender media at the moment. This time last year, you would have thought there was no such thing as the Pura Cup but now that they've won it it's 'Maroon Grown Heroes' and amatuer commentroy (from this guy Troy who does a 'podcast') saying 5hite, like 'Chops on the table' FFS. The level of parochialism would make even KG blush.
