The pertinent question is though, are we happy with a venue that has capacity to fit all fans for 90% of GFs?

Bollocks mate. He is a dirty f$%king disgrace. Scum. What made it worse (if anything could), it was a cheap shot so late in the game. The Doggies had already won the game, so what was the point.

I can't understand anyone, ANYONE, defending a player when he does what Gowans did. Whether you barrack for them or not.

I'd be very suprised if a GF got much over 37,000 again...

I suspect, and this is taking into consideration what his brother said on the stage, they will not be back next year. If they were then why would he throw such a dirty king hit?

Cheers

5AA, well that says it all. They wouldn't know an SANFL player if he jumped up and bit them (something Gowans whould actually do providing they weren't looking)

Couldn't call a game to save their lives, unless it's AvFL.

Bloody hell BDP, I thought you knew better than that. Life FM, 5RPH maybe, but 5AA. Shame on you mate

I wasn't defending him. I was only relaying what the commentators said. Listening to the incident unfold over the radio they were saying that Gowans retaliated. In fact you would have had no idea that it was a king hit listening to the radio.

I think what Gowans did was stupid and unecessary. Like you said the game was over. He should have laughed off whatever upset him. He no doubt regrets his actions. He will get a long suspension and should take it on the chin.

Fair comment Cennals.

Listened to his interview on the tele tonight, didn't seem to show much regret for it. Too far up his ar4e for me.

Did have a few 'battle scars' though, although I understood from Schuey, that happened after he was king hit from behind.

Interesting comments John.

I reckon 2 blokes further from their own arses you'll never meet. Any from here who have met them would testify to that.

Ive only met Chris and I agree, top bloke who definately doesn't have his head up his arse, agree with you fully.
I can understand how people get the impression they do from interviews and on field behaviour but that's a false perception from my meeting with Chris.

Despite everything, last night they had their photo taken or signed autographs for anyone who asked. They're like that every year. I'm sure other players are the same, but while many sit back and soak it up in the clubrooms. They actively go out of their way to thank those that support the club.

Schubert didnt cause the blood from Gowans. i saw the whole thing happen. was a long time between actions though. as a roosters supporter i saw schubert start it. but what he done was nothing compared to gowans. in the second qtr they were both on the members side near the 50 mtr line at the southern end and schubert ran through gowans from behind and i think he hurt his shoulder. imo didnt deserve to be king hit but deserved a Square up.

JC, I did not listen to AAwful and I never will. My comment was just in response to someone else on this thread. I listened to RPH until I got out of range - heard your interview and smsed them to thank them for it!

My point smac, was based on the interview where he apologised with a smile, TO HIS TEAM MATES. Nice one.

Fair comments re the Gowans. I was referring to the interview on thr TV more than them as people per'se.

Back to the game, I can see Central continuing their dynasty, the professional way in which they go about replacing players ensures they're always up there. Roy Laird will never be complacent and is so professional in the way he goes about things, I can never say enough good words about this bloke.
Have North on the other hand missed their window? Weren't good enough to get within 10 goals on the day.
Retirement of Howard already who would be nigh on impossible to replace, possible retirements of Hart, Bamford and Wintle (Wintle has indicated he might play on). Hart looks like he's actually going to win The Roost's player of the year award despite missing a hell of a lot of games which indicates he'd be nigh on impossible to replace.
It'd hard to see where North will catch up that 10 goals on the Dogs.
Just did a quick calculation of the average age of players on the GF field.
Central 24.5
North 25.7

(North's would have been a lot higher too if not for having 3 Under 20s playing (Cubillo 18, Wright 17, Gallman 18))

Wedgie, interesting comments about your retiring players. I would also query whether Motlop has another year in him. The physio work that he was getting on his back in the breaks didn't look good. I noticed in the Eagles game he struggled to bend over and oick up the ball.

Good point about Shannon, he's had to carry an injury right through the last couple of months at least so Im hoping a break will get him AOK.
