Who wants to go anywhere near a shopping centre at all, let alone on a weekend.

I'm very happy for those who do to be compensated accordingly for working unsociable hours.
Re public holidays in particular, about 353 out of 365 days are not public holidays in SA this year.
I personally can handle the shops being closed for 12 days out of 365, especially since we've known which days they're going to be closed for, like, forever.

You should, you'd have plenty of free time to buy your meat.
I need to give the wife something to complain about…………..
Yeah, coz that’d be a short list…

"we" most certainly are not.
my work is currently trying to bring in saturday openings. i certainly wont be doing any weekends, regardless of how they try to spin it. spending time with the wife and kids is way more important to me than my job.
I’m with you here as I’m not working weekends either but there are others who would be willing here to work as that suits their family environment.
Plus it will create extra jobs if needed(at a cost I know).
how will it create more jobs?
the rest of us arent going to magically have more money to spend because the shops are open more hours.
we will be spending the same amount, over a longer timeframe, which will increase the cost of shops doing business, for no monetary gain. all it will do is increase inflation, as shops will have to raise prices to cover their extra opening hoursBrodlach wrote:Perhaps all workplaces should close Saturday and Sunday so “we” all can spend time with our families

What's the definition of unsociable?

What's the definition of unsociable?
Without being too scientific about it, nights, weekends and public holidays.

A 17 year old kid goes to school during the week so only can work weekends, why should they be paid more than a 30 year old bloke supporting a family because of penalty rates?

So pubs, restaurant, movie theater workers should be on penalty rates during the week too?

Amber should build a huge freezer room in his shed and get into whole animal butchery and then never run out of meat [emoji6]

The system is wrong, paid more because that’s the only hours they can work.

Can maybe transform MT's sauna into a freezer so at least it gets used.
