For a different conversation in a different place, but it's an interesting reflection on the footy landscape.
I'm reasonably confident if a bloke has played 150+ games for Norwood I'm familiar with them, but it seems outside of Norwood unless you're a Magarey Medal winner I have a pretty limited understanding of who the player is.
Given people here are higher-level footy tragics, can many people relate (in respect of what's a lowering of the estimation of League footy in general)?
https://sanfl.com.au/league/news/thanks-for-the-memories-2022/By way of example, in that article I knew of Redden (played for the Power) and Allmond, but between Bradley, Hill, Keough and Overall there seem to be remarkably accomplished footballers who are significantly more anonymous than had they played 10, 20 or 30 years earlier.
