And 20 that got 10 coaches votes got no Brownlow votes.
There's too many wrong decision for them to justify keeping it with the umps.
PS Grub, they're not allowed to look at the stats sheet. Maybe they should?

To a point i can understand coaches votes and umpires votes looking fairly different. Umps are not to know the inner workings of what coaches have asked players etc, Teams generally defend zonally so even looking for who was playing on who would be a tad difficult when it's not your primary role.

They give votes for the opposition players too.
They give votes out for the best players not the players who play their roles best.

Kind of one and one of the same.
If in the grand final Charlie Cameron is kept to 0 goals, 1 kicks, 1 handball whoever played on him has played their role best and from a coaches point of view would most definitely be one of the best players. Now the chances of an umpire giving that player a brownlow vote are literally non existent, when is the last time you saw a shut down defender get 3 brownlow votes. I don't agree getting 30 possession is the only way you can be best on ground.

Would anyone have him in their top 5 current best players?
I’d struggle to get him in my top 10

If the AFL hadn't manipulated the 2022 Cripps result Neale would have 3.

Sure you might get 40 odd possessions but be a bit lippy or question an umps decisions and that could reflect on an umpires votes.
It is a fairest and best player award after all.
The JHF getting 3 votes for a 13 possession game is bizarre.
Daicos has a 41 possession game at 85 percent efficiency and doesn't get a vote.. .weird!
That's how good he is.

Jon Ralph. “ I just watched every possession of Horne-Francis getting three votes for 13 touches v Geelong and it's a travesty. 13 touches. Four ineffective, two clangers, four short kicks. One scrounged kick off the ground that went a metre. Zero impact. Time to let umpires look at stats.”
