Some massive work off season will be required in the off season to keep the Eagles up amongst the contenders. What is happening with Gav Colville is he likely to be the next to retire - what about Passa apparently he has been offered a job back in Victoria.

The club sent an email confirming Passador and Grocke were offered jobs interstate, but declined and will be at the club next year so you can breath easy on that one eaglehaslanded!

Of the retirements so far this year, we basically only need to replace Lindsay and Cooper from our on field set up of 2007. Hall and Inkster hardly played. Lee was recruited last year and has served his apprenticeship so hopefully he'll be ready to step up. There was also another young ruckman who was impressive in the reserves, but can't think of his name at the moment. Mickyj will know, we both were impressed by him at Elizabeth in the ressies this season.

Would be good to recruit another quality midfielder or 2 to replace Cooper (and possibly Vince if he plays more for the Crows) and strengthen that area to match the likes of North and Central.

Funny Aerie, my lad and I were talking about Eagle ruckmen last night. The players name was Hill and you are correct he did impress at Elizabeth and in some other games.
Its hard to keep track of some Eagle youngsters they play one week then dont play again for a few weeks. And this year only missing 1 game we both watched the entire season of league and seconds.

The eagles need some quality midfielders as well as some small ball crumbing forwards. These two areas were shown up in the finals .
I will edit this post by adding the Eagles also need 1 or 2 taller backmen.

Good to hear of the news of both Passa and Grocke staying on at the club for another season as per Aerie's post. Jonothan Lee played some good footy in the 2's but am unsure whether he is ready to make the next step. Any news on Jacobs is he still a listed AFL player he would be a handy return.

From the horse's mouth -" my knee is not going to get any better. As I can't play to the standard I want to, I've lost the enjoyment of playing SANFL. I just want to play for fun now"
Severely missed this year (2007).
Lindsay - ankles shot, would be surprised if he played at Henley or anywhere else
Cooper-needs to be replaced with a hard nut.
Hall-ultimate team man, will be sorely missed as a character around the place.
Eagles must get out there and be far more aggressive in the market place than they have been in the past if they want to remain a top 3 club.
Pre - season starts Nov. 12th for the younger brigade.
Luck is where opportunity meets preparation

The criteria for the goveners award is awarded to the best defensive player. That player may not necessarily be a backman but rather a player who shows the best defensive skills. Peter Fiachi whilst being a backman and midfielder was deemd to be that player again. They could not find a reason while a player could not win it two times in a row so Peter won it again. I thought Luke Powell would have come close at winning it this year but the choice was good in the end.

Eagles apparantly have signed Jarrad Wright from South.

Lindsay will be an assistant coach with Nick Pesch not involved next year.

Hally is coaching Henley.
Inkster will play at Henley too.
I have heard a rumour that Cooper might be playing for the Sharks as well.

Apologies for the delay but needed to check out a few details.

Our Stairway of Champions (Hall Of Fame) is limited a little due to the 2 prior clubs. The decision was taken not to look at the history of the 2 foundation clubs prior to 1964. That is before Woodville was elevated to League status (were in reserves prior to 64 and some time before that in Amateur League).

There is a priviso that exceptions to the general qualifications can be ratified by the board. Only one exception so far in that Bob Hank whose career had finished by 1964 but is a Life Govenor and Number 1 ticket holder of the club is in the Stairway.

All the others have reached the qualifying conditions and photos adorn the walls as you enter the upstairs function room. Many great Woodville, Torrens and WWTFC stars represented.

Must achieve minimum of 10 points and a minimum of 150 games.
Points awarded as 150 games 6 points; 200 games 8 points, 250 games 10 points.
First Year as captain 2 points then 1 point for every year after that
State Games first game 2 points then 1 point for every state game after that
Also points if awarded the Magarey and to Club Champion.
The full criteria also displayed in the stairwell.

The Life Govenors award is to the player who has the best defensive skills/action - so not exclusively for a backman but for the player with the best all round game - could be a forward who never lets the ball out of the forward lines or a wingman who works both ends of the ground or a top line defender.

Lots of rumours flying around as always - I will only confirm factual stuff - at the moment talks are happening with the retirees as to roles they may take up at the club. Nothing definate yet.

MickyJ the lad you are thinking about in the reserves is Stuart Hill from our North Eastern country zone - comes from the Mintaro Manoora FC.
