fantasia's brain child boys.

obviously SANFl couldn't justify the expense of a Under 17 comp anymore.

this whilst the crows travel to DUBAI for preseason training.

unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

good to see the SANFL has it priorities in order.

U17s comp victim of selfish and inferior College football system.
Football development in SA will be the loser but this may be the head that it all had to come to.

And quoting himself on another forum to substantiate a "fact"....ROTFLMAO!!!!!

FWIW long overdue given the amount of U/17s playing U/19s at the end of the year and the number of U/19s playing ressies.

If you aren't good enough to play SANFL ressies by the time you are 18-19 here's a newsflash for you, you probably aint gonna make it......
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

First - There will be no change to current U17 and U19 competitions in 2008.

Any change if any not til 2009

And probably not to U18s as believed AFL may consider changing TAC U18 to an elite U19 competition some time in future.

Bit harsh some kids don't get picked up early as they don't have dads in the know at local clubs and they don't start till late,
ie last year U17's or first year 19's. When local coaches get to select the kids to try a sanfl club, alot of the kids we now never made it. And yet alot of the kids not selected are now playing league or reserves. They had to get in the hard way.

It does take them a while to adjust to the better training and game plans that SANFL have over local clubs.

Local football has been lacking in U17/U18's as any kids good enough are playing for their A or B teams instead.

Some kids also give up other sports to put all into football late, some clubs are to strong to play 18yr olds in their ressies, others so weak they play them league even if the kids are getting killed. It would depend on your zoning as to what your club could give you.

I think it is a shame, as alot of kids have had great years in U17/U19 and they have built good friendships and learn't how to play good footy under the SANFL teams.

This might lose some good players that develop late, not all 18 year olds have the body to play reserves, but will have later on.
