a lot better then Charlies, but quite expensive

Wait, isn't it one and the same? We're doing the buffet.

Yeah same thing. Still run by AVC (previously Coles) too. Still called Charlies.
If you've got the Pass app you might get some decent discounts, if not get it and you'll get $10 straight up.

In the past I would have said go to the Watermark instead but that's now an ALH pub so has probably gone downhill.

If you are up in the Copper Triangle be sure to check out the new Capella's just off the main street behind the Moonta town hall, they have a done a great job with the new set up and the food was fantastic, there was 20 of us an not a bad word.

Charlies Diner - Brighton Metro

Must have won the buffet lottery last night as the place was no more than 50% full. Granted, due to the age of most of our dinner party we were booked in for 5:30 so most of the food was just coming out as we went for our first run.

Asian - Sweet n Sour Pork and Lemon Chicken were both really good, the hokkien noodle beef dish and the special fried rice were not. Happy with the first plate to get me started.

Carvery - The roast beef didn't look as good as it tasted, the spuds and veggies ( honey carrots in particular ) were good, as noted above nice and fresh. Again, happy enough with this.

International - The cajun drum sticks were excellent, honey soy wings really good and some chips on the side were a bit soggy but as expected being in a tray waiting for me. This was probably the pick.

Finished off, like all good boys do, with a green jelly and chocolate frog.

All in all I reckon the $39 price tag was more than ok, most pubs charge $25+ for a schnitty so for the price I think the value is pretty good. The service wasn't too happy to be there, the front counter were just doing a job, the bar staff weren't in the same class as Sam Malone but were pleasant enough.

Food - 8/10
Service - 6/10
Timing of visit - 10/10

I hope there were more mains to choose from.

I remember taking my missus to the Port Adelaide one on our first date back in 99, I thought I’d trial some sago pudding after my first plate of mains, it was incredible and we both had plenty of servings, so much so we sat in the car for an hour afterwards with the seats wound back and buttons undone.

We never ate it again until 15 years later when we went out for dinner and spotted it on the menu, we broke up the next day.

Went up to the Riverland during the week for work and to also see family. We went out to the Overland Corner Hotel. What joint that is after being taken over. Atmosphere on a warm summers night was outstanding and was only topped by the food. Value for money as good as any pub feed I’ve had - Hands down the best pub schnitzel I’ve ever eaten. Only rate it 9.5 because the beer I was drinking could have been a touch colder. An absolute must for all when visiting the Riverland.

Might be right, don't remember a CD being at the Sizzler site, may have been short-lived.

It was an all-you-can-eat joint after sizzler but don’t think it was Charlie’s.
